Respectfully submitted, 4p Fred Croxton. Permits granted. It was moved by Councilman Mueller, and seconded by Councilman Paddock, that the aforegoing permits be granted. Motion carried. COMMU141CA'TIONS Various communications were presented, read and acted upon as follows: The City Clerk acknowledged a card of thanks from the family of Mayor Kean of nremerton, for the expression of sympathy from the officials of this city upon the death of his son. From A. Clemen Grady, to -wit: Feb. 19, 1949 City Council City of Port 'Townsend City Hall Port Townsend, Wash. Gentlemen: Heretofore the committee has approved vacation of that portion of Jackson Street lying between the southerly line of Lawrence Street, and a line parallel to said southerly line of Lawrence Street, and 110 feet south thereof, said portion of Jackson Street as hereinbefore described, extends between the sa'd Lawrence street and the brow of the hill located 110 feet south thereof as hereinbefore described, in Port Townsend, Jefferson County, Washington. I understand that no public hearing has been held on this matter and accordingly request that a date be set for a public hearing thereon as rgquired by City Ordinance. Respectfully submitted, A. It was moved by Councilman Steele, and seconded by Councilman Sullivan, that public hearing upon the proposed vacation, as approved by the Committee on Streets at a previous session, be set for the regular session of the Council to be held upon May 3, 1949, and t proper notices thereof be posted as required by law. Carder, to -wit: March 1, 1949 The Honorable harry E. ^nderson and Members of the City Council Port Townsend, Washington Gentlemen: I am again referring to an old problem that has confronted us for some time, namely, dogs on our playgrounds. Today a child was bitten by one of these stray dogs and because it is not within our -legal jurisdiction to handle the situation I am referring the matter to .you. In order to prevent further injury to the children and protect both the city and school district from becoming involved in serious legal difficulties which could develop, I definitely feel the city should take some action on this problem.
