E. Anderson presiding. ROLL CALL Officers and Members answering present to roll call were as follows: Mayor H. E. Andean n; City Attorney 0. T. Williams; City Clerk, C. F. Christian; end Councilmen Goo. J. Osborne, Tony P. Eronimo, Dennis Sullivan, William A. Paddock, Gen. F. Mueller, H. E. Glass and Councilman Steele arriving during session. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS SESSION The minutes of last regular session were read in full and upon completion thereof, it was moved by Councilman-Muellor, and seconded by Councilman Sullivan, that the minutes be approved as read. Motion carried. BILLS AND CLAII4S Steele arrives Councilman Steele arrived at this time and assumed his duties. Withholding Tax 76.60 $ Bills allowed. 747.89 It was moved by Councilman Sullivan, and seconded by Councilman Mueller, that the fore- going bills be allowed. Upon roll call vote all seven Councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried. Other claims. The City Clerk read, in full, a claim for damages filed by Sylvia Steele, as follows: Notice of Claim to the City of Port Townsend, a municipal corporation, Jefferson County Washington: STATE OF WASHINGTON) se. COUNTY OF JEFFERSON) Sylvia Steele, being first duly sworn upon her oath, deposes and says: That in accordance with and pursuant to Section 9481, Rem. Rev. Sts, of the State of Washington she hereby and herewith presents and files a claim for damages arising out of an auto- mobile accident which occurred on the 26th day of January, 1949, at approximately the hour of 11 otclock A.M. on said date on Sims Way, also known as State Highway No. A. said accident having occurred approximately between Cleveland Street and Wilson Street on said Sims 'hay. You are further notified that said accident was caused by the icy condition of the said street a# said time and place; that said'icy conditions had been allowed to remain by the City of Port 'Townsend for an unreasonable length of time prior to the happening of the accident aforesaid and that as a result of said icyt vondition of the highway the undersigned claimant was involved in an automobile collision which resulted in extensive damages to her 1937 Ford Automobile, the exact amount of which is approximately One hundred and Seventy-five (�175.00) dollars. That as a further result of said accident and the city!s negligence affiant was confined in St. John's Hospital and incurred a hospital bill? of 019.00 and incurred medical bills the exact amounts of which are unknown at the present time and that as a further result of add accident the undersigned claimant was injured and disabled from the date hereof until the present time and is still disabled and that she suffered the following disabilities, to -wit: 'That it is impossible by reason of said disability to give exact information as to the amount of damage sustained by reason of said disability. That claimant has resibd at Port Ludlow in Jefferson County, Washington, for a period of six months prior to the date of said accident. Claim rejected It was moved by Councilman Mueller, seconded by Councilman Sullivan that the claim of Sylvia Steele be rejected. Upon roll call vote Councilmen Steele, Eronimo, Sullivan, Paddock, Mueller, and Gleason voted in the affirmative and Councilman Osborne was excused from voting and motion was declared carried. APPLICATIONS FOR LICENSES The City Clerk read the applications for taxicab drivers license of William A. howe, Evert E. Gardner, Louis H. Hansen, Theodore Robert Movius, James V. DeLeo, 'Tilden R. Johnson, each of which had been approved by the Chief of Police. It was moved by Councilman Steele, and seconded by Councilman Gleason, that licenses be granted the aboved named applicants.
