OUS1NESS Re: Library propertycdesired by baptist Church City attorney Drily reported that in accordance with direction 'of the Council made at a previous session he had managed to corn+unicato with heirs dB the James Estate relative to release from the reversion clause in:the deedAto the City for certain property to be used for library purposes; such action ixnving been taken by the Council upon request for acquisl tion of a portion of such property:.by the baptist Church from the city. Mr. Daly stated that lie had advised Rev. Foss and Mr:.Fred Lewis, a member of the boar of Trustees, of the First Baptist church of the release from such reversion clause; and tha it would be necessary to determine by survey the actual physical boundaries of such propeft in order that an agreement might be by representatives of the Church and members of the Librnrq Board as to the possible division of such property as determined by said survey. fir. Lewis had expressed a willingness of the Church officials to bear the cost of this survey. It eras moved by Councilman L:ueller, and seconded by Councilman Sullivan, that City Engineer Keith Jones meet with the trustees of the Churchaand Library Board relative Lio the survey outlined above and to determine what agreement might be reached as to the divisi of property; and to prepare a description of such division for presentation to the Council for its consideration. }.:otion carried. Re: New sewer for north side of ',:organ hill _ v-e s s em fa• the m. Councilman Gleason introduced the 'matter of the necessity of a so _r y t area roughly described as the nix therly slde of Morgan !pill stating that population in that area was becoming fairly ecnse, sewage disposal was becoming a problem, and that the area would be quite easy to sewer from the engineering stnndpoint. Councilman Uleason moved that the City Engineer be requested to determine the feasiblity of the installation of a sewer system in the area outlined. This motion was seconded by Councilman Sullivan and carried by voice vote of the n.embers present. Pin ball location license granted. It was moved by Councilman Sullivan, that the Council approve the application of.Iur. Cusack for permission to install a pin bill machine in his place of business commonly known as "Cusack+s Drive 1n". This motion was seconded by Councilman Gleason and carried by voice vote of the members present. Re: i,,.oving of buildings. Councilman Sullivan stated that there had been several instances where buildings had been moved over and across city streets without the person doing such moving having request+ pernilt ion of the Council or the posting of s bond. Upon unanimous consent of the Mayor and members of the Council f:r. Leonard Balch who was present in the Council Chambers spoke upon this matter. L:r. Balch stated that he had been required to post a bond for moving the buildings vrithin the city, that he had done such moving upon rubber tired equ�ipment in order to protect the street surfacing, that others had moved buildings within the city by placing t'rem only upon skids and he cid not feel that it was fair to those who had posted such bond to alloy such unauthorized moving. The members of the Council discussed this matter for a short Period and it was agreed that there should be better regulations of such actions but no definite action by the Council was taken at this time. kllJOURNL:F1iT There being no further business appea:•ing for consdderstion by the Council at this time, it was mated by Councilman Sullivan, and seconded by Councilman Steele, that the Council do now adjourn. ROLL CALL Officers and members noted present upon roll call were as follows: Mayor H. E. finder - son; City Attorney W. J. Daly; City Clerk, C. F. Chrintnin, and Councilmen Ralph H. Steele It. E. The minutes of the last regular session of the Council were rend in lull and upon cornptetion thereof it:was moved by Councilman Sullivm and seconded by Councilman Gleason that the minutes be approved as read. U.otion carried. BILLS AND CLAIMS The bill of Cotton Engineering Company for repairs to the Council Chamber, which had previously been rejected by the Council was again taken under consideration at this time; and as it appeared that this work had been properlycompleted it was moved by Councilman Sullivan, seconded by Councilman Steele that the bill be allowe4 and war6ant issued in payment therefor. Upon roll call vote all four Councilman present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried. APPLICATIONS FOR LICENSES - From J. H. Purdy; to -wit: Honorable Nayor Dec. 21, 1948 and Members of the City Council: This is to ask for a renewal of my two (2) cab licenses for the ,year 1949 in the City of Port Townsend, 'dash. Respectfully, J. ll. Purdy. In:view of. the pending proposed increase in license for taxi operators, the foregoing request vras tabled until a later session. REPORTS OF OFFICERS L:ayor Liayor Anderson at this time announced the re -appointment of Mrs. Amanda Herstrom to the Library bor.rd for another term. It was moved by Councilman Gleason, and seconded by Councilman Steele, that the foregol appointment be confirmed by the Council. Motion carried. City Treasurer The ronthly report of the City Treasurer for the month of November, 1948, was oresented read, and it-Wris thereupon moved by Councilman Gleason, and seconded by Councilman Sullivan that this report be referred to the Committee on Finance and Claims. Notion carried.
