The proposed ordinance was -read by title only for the third reading, and it visa there- upon moved by Councilman Ymeller, and seconded by Councilman Gleason that the ordinance do now pass. Upon roll call vote all five Councilmen voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried. Ordinance fixing, and adopting ester rund budget. An ordinance fixing and adopting the budget for the Water fund of the City of Port Townsend for the year 1949, was presented and read in full for the first reading,as follows: ORDINANCE NO.123'4 AN ORDINANCE of the City of Port Townsend fixing end adopting a budget for the Plater Department of the City of Port 'Townsend, for the year 1949. THE CITY UU1\C1L OF THE CITY OF PORT TOl','NSEND DO ORDAIN AS FULLO:^S: Section 1. That the following be and the same is +ereby fixed and adopted as the Official budget for the Pater Department of the Oity of Port iorneend, for the year 1949, divided into total amounts in each of the following classes comprising the whole of said budget, to -wit: Salaries and Wages $ 14,340.00 Operation and :i.aintenance S 10,200.00 Capital Outlay $-15,500.00 Cumulative Reserve rund j 10,000.00 Interest and Bond Pedemption $ 46,900.00 Section 2. Upon roll call vote all rive Councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried. An ordinance fixing the tax levy of the City of Port Townsend, for the ye::r 1949, was presented and read in full for the first reading as follows: ORDINANCE No. /231 AN CRD11dANCE of the City of Port Townsend making and fixing the tax levy of said City for taxes for the year 1949. TEE C1•I'Y COUNCIL OP' THE CITY OF PORT 'IX.NSEND DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That there is hereby levied upon all the taxable property in the Oity of Port Townsend the following some of money and rates of tax levy for the different purposes herein designated, for the year 1949, and the rate of taxation upon the dollar of assessed valuation of said +'ity for such purposes is as follows: First: For the payment of current expenses and for the Current Expense Fund, the sum of $8,547.01, and the rate of tax levy for said fund is hereby fixed at 7.00 mills on the dollar. Second: For the purpose of maintaining a public library and for the Library Fund, the sum of $5,799.75, and the rate of tax levy for said fund is hereby fixed at 4.75 mills on the dollar. Third: For the purpose of maintaining and improving public parks and for the Park rund, the sum of $3,968.25 and the rate of tax levy for said fund is hereby fixed at 3.25 mills on the dollar. Section 2. Ch .ISTIAN - £ y City Attorney Daly briefly explained the derivation of the levies for the various funds, as outlined in the ordinance above, together with the reasons bherefor; and made C 1 particular mention of the present status of monies of the 1931 General Indebtedness Water ! _ 34 Bond and Interest Fund and the levy for this purpose. It was moved by Councilman Gleason, and seconded by Councilman Steele, that the first reading be considered as the second reading and that the third rending be b-• title only.
