Gentlemen:
The officers of the Jefferson County Historical Association wish to inquire if th
old police court room in the City hall could be made availnble for a public museum.
if this were possible, would the city consent to reconditioriLigthis room?
The Association membership feels that Port 'Townsend, as an historically important
city, needs as establishment for the display of a historical collection. Your help
in obtaining such a place will be very much appreciated, not only by the Historical
Association, but by the community as a whole.

We the undersigned (Taxi Owners) request that the City Council pass an ordinance
to limit the number of taxi cab Companies in Port Townsend to five (5), and the total
number of Taxi Licenses to eleven (11).for such a period as the City Council may
determine.

Ordinance fixing and adopting the Official Budget.
An ordinance fixing and adopting the Official Budget for the City of Port Townsend,
for the year 1949, was presented andiread in full for the first reading, as follows:
ORDINANCE NO. /2 2 %
AN ORDINANCE of the City of Port Townsen fixing and adopting the official: budget for
the City of Port 'Townsend for the year 1949.
THE CI12Y UOUNUIL OF 'THE CITY OF PORT 'TOV..77SEND DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the ibllowing be and the same is hereby fixed and adopted as the
official budget of the City of Port 'Townsend, Washington, for taxation purposes, for
the year 1949, divided into the following classes comprising the whole of the budget,
to -wit:
Salaries and Wages y 75,205.00
Operation and Maintenance $ 37,325.00
Capital -Outlay $ 16,850.00
Interest and uond Redemption w 610.60
Firemen's helieC and Pension $ 1,221.00
Section 2. That this ordinance be published once in the Port Townsend Leader to
be in force and take effect as provided b'r law.

It was moved by Councilman Gleason, and seconded by Councilman Benedetto, that the
first reading be considered as the second reading and that the third reading be by title
only. Upon roll call vote, all five Councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion
