Daly reported that he had received a copy of the foregoing letter and that he had replied requesting the petitioner to prepare and present an ordinance in conformance therewith, the amount of yearly rental to be left blank; and suggesting that the company offer to pay cost of publication of same. From Association of Washington Cities The City Clerk rdported receipt of advance notice of the fall regional meetings of the Assoc. of Wash. Cities noting that the meeting for this area would be held in Port Angeles upon Friday September 24. UNFiNiSHED AND NEW BUSINESS Re: Wyckoff request Councilman Mueller, reporting upon the application of Mr. Fred L. Wyckoff for the opening or vacation of a portion of Jackman St., which was read at a previous session and referred to the Committee on Streets and Sewers, stated that upon investigation it had been determined that the opehiPg of said street could be readily accomplished; and moved that the T t a street supt. be instructed to proceed with this work. his motion was seconded bC y Councilman Sullivan and carried by voice vote of the members present. Re: 30th Streetopening Councilman .*.Iueller reported that he had been advised that the Street Supt., Iyall Aray portion of 30th Street, as had investigated, previously, the possibility of improvement to a porlocation had found a requested by Mr. Walter Addie and others, and upon arriving at this notice to the effect that this was a private road and had therefore not given further consi deration to such improvement. Re: Improvement of Landes St. Councilman Sullivan moved that the Street Supt. be instructed to open Landes St. north of 19th St. upon the center line thereof, but motion did not receive a second.' Councilman Sullivan stated that if the Fifth ward area were to be developed it would be necessary for the city administration to give all possible help and consideration. This matter was discussed for a short period and was terminated by motion of Councilman Carroll, seconded by Councilman Steele that the matter of the Landes St. opening be referred to the Committee on Streets and Sewers for investigation and report at the next session. Upon rol call vote all seven Councilman present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried. Re: Powers of Park board Miss Willison inquired as to the powers of the Park Board with respect to the operatic of the city park, and was advised that the state statues provide for the appointment of a Park Board in cities of this class and invests in such board the authority to operate and maintain pahks',:within the city. Re: Operation of Health District. Councilman Steele reported that the Olympic "ealth zoard had held it's first meeting that a Chaitman and alternate Chairman had been chosen,.a charter had been adopted, and a proposed budget for the year 1949 had been made. Dr. Hisser, Health Officer of the District, outlined the proposed operation under the charter adopted. Councilman Carroll spoke in favor of giving consideration to former employees of the district,who had been carrying on certain duties without pay, when restaffing the local office. Operation of the district,in the past, was discussed for a period of time among those Interested. ADJOUHUmENT. No further business appearing, for consideration by the Council at this time, it was moved by Councilman Sullivan, and seconded by Councilman Mueller, that the Council do now adjourn. Motion carried. MINUTES Or' PREVIOUS SESSION Sullivan arrives Councilman Sullivan arrived shortly after the start to read the minutes of the previous session and assumed his proper place thereafter. IT The minutes of the previous session were read in full and following completion thereof Sullivan, it was moved by Councilman Steele and-:deconded by Councilman that the minutes be approved as read.
