Referring to the vacant lot between the City Library and the First Baptist Church,
facing on Lawrence Arcot, d eded to and owned by the City of fort 'Townsend.
On behalf of the -ambers, and Trustees of the first Baptist Church, we would deem
It a rrent favor of you honorable body, to sellor grant for a reasonable sum this lot
to the first Baptist Church of this city.

The ratter presented by •ter. Levis was discussed for a short perbd noting that certain
of the deeds conveying this property to the city contained revOrSion clauses, but it was
the general opidicn of the members of the Council that the recommendations of the Library

Board in this matter be determined and it was therefore moved by Councilman Carroll and

seconded by Councilman Osborne that this communication be referred to the Library Board.
Motion carries.

From Association of Slash. Cities
The City Clerk reported recefptaof a bulletin of Assoc. of Sash. Cities requesting
submittfon of such tonics as the officials of the various cities might wish to have dis-
cussed, and advised the Council that tonics submitted at the Clerk's office would be forwar
to the Association office.

UNFINTSPED AND NET BUSINESS
Re: Sewer connection charge
Councilman Mueller introduced the matter of the cost of street repairs following,
:
connecting of sewer services etc. and inquired of the street supertindent if the average
normal cost of such repairs had been determined. In reply Street Supt. Lyall Arey reported
that he had arrived at an estimate of thirty dollars as being the average cost to the city
for repairs to the street surfacing in such instances.
It was :roved by Qouncilman •••ueller that the City catty. be instructed to prepare and

present to the Council, an ordinance providing for a charge of fifteen dollars for making
a connection to a city sewer. This motion was seconded by Councilman Steele and carried

by voice vote of the members present.
Re: Civil Service in Police wept.
Councilman Benedetto stated that under present Civil Service regulation it was require
that younger personnel be employed upon the Police 'Force though it was his opinion that sue
nositions could better be filled by older men. Councilman Benedetto inquired regarding
the possibility of disgor•dirg Civil Service for the Police Ley. and was informed that this
•gas a mandatory provision of the State <aatues.

Ing that the public was prohibited from., using the garbage dump. He added that he felt that
the dump should be available to the public for their use. He reply Councilman Carroll

stated that in the past the dump had been open to the public but it had been found that thi
privilege had been abused and garbage had been dumped indiscriminately making it necessary
for members of the garbage dept. to clean the area in order that they might use the dump
properly.

Wr. Morrison took this opportunity to introdule'irs. Catharine Christiansen the newly
dnmloyed public Health Nurse for this area and Yr. A. C. Robinson State Health Dept.
inspector of Reatuarant Sanitation.
Yr. Robinson spoke briefly upon his findings in the survey of local resturants noting
that considerable improvement had been made particularly with respect to equipment. He
added that his survey would require quite a little for their investigation before its
completion but that his report of his findings should be ready in two or three weeks.
The action taken by the State Dept! of health upon the recommendations of City and
County officials relative to the appointment of Dr. Plut as temporary part time health
Ufffcer was briefly discussed between llr. Norrison and members of the Council.
He: Lights for terrace
It was moved by "ound lman Ulesson and seconded by Councilman Carroll, that the City
Engineer prepare plans and specifications for a system of orkmental lighting for the Ta-lo
Street terrace. Lotion carried.
ADJOURNMEHT
There being no further business before the Council ?'or their consideration at this
time, it was moved by Councilman Steele, and seconded by Councilman Sullivan, that the
Council do now adjourn. Motion carried.
