Dear Sirs: Decause of the alarr.tng Increase of accidents on our public streets and due to the lack of public safeguard for the protection of our fellow citizens and our children$ the Ve-terans of Foreign liars of the U. S. Post 1495, Port '1'ownnend Washington, does hereby request that the Hollowing pubic safeguards be installed for bhe protection of our fellow citizens and our children. Council for the opening of bids to provide the various departments of the City with their requirements of gasoline, diesel oil, and stove oil, bids received were opened and prices noted as follows: Standard Oil Company of Calif. Gasoline- Posted tank wagon price at time of delivery She17 oil Company Inc. Gasoline- Posted tank wagon price at time of delivery Stove Oil- Posted 'tank wagon price at time of delivery Diesel Fuel Oil- Posted Tank wagon price at time of delivery Union Oil Company of Calif. Gasoline- Posted tank wagon price at time of delivery less 1� per gallon Stove Oil- Posted tank wagon price at time of delivery. Diesel ieuel Oil- Posted tank wagon price at time of delivery. Burner Oil Sales Stove U11- Posted' tank wagon price at time of delivery less 3 tenths(.003 cent per gallon on delivery of 500 gallons or over. Bids accepted. It was moved by Councilman ;,:ueller that inasmuch as the bids of Tide Veater Associated Oil Co., and Union Oil Uo. of'.Galif. appeared to be the lowest and best bids for providing of gasoline, these bids be occepted and deliveries be made by the. two companies upon an equal basis. This motion was secrmded by Gouncfiman Steele, and carried by voice vote of the members present. Following consideration of all bids presented it was moved by Councilman ;r:ueller that all dontracts offered for suppljing stove oil and diesel oil be accepted; provdded that, 1. provision can be made to make deliveries in the amount of 500 gallons or more, purchases of these items shall be made from Durner Oil Sales. This motion was seconded by Councilman Steele and carried by voice vote of the members present. Complaint by Fraternal Order of Eagles Mr -.Robert L. Ammeter, upon his request, was invited by Mayor pro tern Carroll to prose to the Council such mutters as he might desire. 16r:.Ammeter stated that he had been delega by the members of the Eagles Lodge to protest the action of City Patrolmen John D. Vekich who; it was declared, had demanded dntrance to the lodge building and threatened to shoot the lock from the door if such entrance was not granted. Mr. Ammeter then introduced Yr. Dean Poods who, it was said, was present in the building at the time the patrolmans demands were made. Ilrr, Dean Zooea presented, verbally, his version of the proceedings outlined above in detail. Mr. Peter Naughton, who was present in the audience, informed the Council that a r:embei of the Eagles Lodge had advised Mr. Naughton that he .visa purported to have been with Patrol. man Vekich at the time, and as a party to, the demands outlined above; but he wished it understood that he had not been present and had no part in it. Following short discussion of the matter as out+.ined nbove it was moved by Councilman Sullivan, and secs ded by Councilman Uleason, that this matter be tabled untillthe next regular session of the Uouncil in order that a fuller investigation might be made and other interested parties be given the opportunity to be heard. :I:otion carried. he: Operation of Health District L:nyor pro tem Carroll called upon State hepresentntive u;erle iiufford for a few remarks and in response Lir. iiufford briefly outlined the proceedings of the public hearing recently hold in Port Angeles by the State Legislative Interim Committee on HighwnVs, streets and bridges and commended the representativws of this city and county upon the quality of the reports submitted and the manner of presenting same.
