This being the date and time set by the Council for the publie hearing upon the reques of H. J. Carroll, Lanresa Hall, and Gerald Hunt for the vacation of parts of certain street in the Eisenbeis Addition; the City Clerk read the notice of hearing together with affidnv t of posting save as follows: NOTICE OF TI1LE AND PLACE OF HEAhING IN THE iLATT%R OF THE VACATION OF A PAh7S OF A CERTAIN STREETS. H. J. Carroll, (Lanresa Hall and Gerald Bunt, having filed with the City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Jei't'erson County, '11aahington, a petition requested the vacation of parts of certain streets within said City, to -wit: That.portion of Holcomb Avenue between Seventh and the State hoed No.9. That portion of 'Ailson Ave. lying between State Highway No. 9, the south side of Seventh Street. That portion of Fifth Street lying between State Highway No. 9, and the east side of Nilson Street. That nox-tion of Sixth Street lying between the east side of Cleveland Street and 'lax No. 4, Section 10, Township 30 North, flange 1 West, W. M. That portion of Gise Street lying between Seventh street and Tax No. 4, Section 10, 'township 30 '+orth, Range 1 Y"est, V.I . Y . NOTICE IS HEEEBY GIVEN That pursuant to a amotion duly made, seconded and passed by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend on the 18th day of November, lb47, the said petition will be heard at the hour of 7:30 o'clock, P.L., or as soon thereafter as practicable, on Tuesday, the 16th day of December, 1947, in the Council Chambers of the "ity Hall of the City of Pat Townsend, Jefferson County, Washington, when and where any person or persons may appear and make exceptions or objections to the proposed vacation. Father Purcell, of Lanresa Hall, spoke briefly upon their reasons for desiring this vacation; as did Mr. H. J. Car:•oll. Prints of the area involved,.whowing the streets sought to be vacated and the property now owned by the petitioners,were studied by the Councilmen and other interested persons. Vacation granted. It was moved by councilman Carroll, and seconded by Councilman Steele, that the vacati ci of streets as outlined above be granted providing, that all costs incidental thereto be borne by the petitioners. Upon roll call vote all seven Councilmen present voted in the at'firmat and motion was declared carried. Re: Hydrant at Plater and 'Nalker Streets Councilman Steele introduced the matter of installing a fire hydrant at Water and P:alke Streets. In the discussion of this subject which dnsued the Council was advised that installation of a hydrant at the location proposed would require excavation under the comet pavement but that if installation were made a short distance westerly from this p6lmt it r would not be necessary to disturb the paving. - It was moved by Couhcilman Steele, and seconded by Councilman Sullivan, that a hydrant be installed at such location as would be nearest to the intersection of Water and Ylalker I' Y' Street and would bequire the least disturbance to the highway. Motion carried., ji•. r f;;; Gravel Pit nurchuse authorized. �t Councilman Gleason reported that he had negotiated with iSr. and Yrs. Huby, owners of t land adjacent to the Cityfs gravel pit at what is known as"North bench", and that the four lots abutting upon the present pit should be purchased for the sum of $5oo.o0 dollabs. *S It was moved by Cooncilman Gleason, and seconded by Councilman Yudlle4 that the City z , proceed to Ruire the four lots specified. Upon roll call vote .ailsseven Councilmen prase voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried. i hrzr s .Emergency Ordinance requested. It was moved by Councilman ;:ueller,and seconded by Councilman Carroll, that the City Attorney be directed to prepare an emerge:,cy ordinance for the purpose of providing funds to purchase property as ai,ove authorized.
