t The CITY�OUNCIL of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, met in regular session this
18th day of DZTimber, 1947, at 7:30 o'clock P.M., in the Council Chambers of the City Hall,
Mayor H. I.. Anderson presiding.
ROLL CALL.
Officers and Membdrs found present upon roll call were as follows: Mayor, H. E. Anderso ;
n City Attorney, P. J. Daly; City Clerk, C. F. Christian; and Councilmen H. E. Gleason,
A. Benedetto, Goo. J. Osborne, J. M. Carroll, and Geo. F. Mueller; Councilman Ralph H. Steel
arriving during the session.

(' MINUTES OF PREVIOUS SESSION.
{ Steele arrives.
Councilman Steele arrived during the reading of the minutes of the previous session
and took part in the proceedings thereafter.
III The minutes of the previous session were read in full, and upon completion of such read: -
ing it was moved by Councilman Benedetto, and seconded by Councilman Osborne, that the
il minutes be approved as read. Motion carried.

REPORTS OF OFFICERS.
City Treasurer.
The monthly report of the City Treasurer, for the month of October, 1947, was presented
nd read and was referred to the Committee on Finance and Claims.
Pater Superintendent.
The monthly report of the Pater Superintendent, for the month of October, 1947, was
resented and outlined and was referred to the Committee on "star and Drainage.
The report of the 'rater Superintendent, showing floor of water through main line meters
or the week ending November 17, 1947, and the Crown Zellerbach Corp. 20 inch meter for the
eek ending Nobember 8, 1947, was presented and read and was referred to the Committee on
star and Drainage.

A written report of the City Clerk was presented and read in full, as follows:

Gentiemen:
The session of the City Council to be held upon November 18, 1947, was
set by motion of the Council as the date of hearing upon the application of Monresa
Nall, Gerald A. Hunt, and H. J. Carroll for the vacation of Darts of certain streets
in Eisenbeis Addition.
1 wish to report at this time that official notice of such hearing has not been
properly posted, seemingly due to an oversight on the part of the attorney represent-
ing the petitioners. May I recommend that the Council, at this session, set another
date far such hearing and I will endeavor to see that this matter henceforth proceed
in accordance therewith.

New Date of Hearing Set.
It was moved by Councilman Mueller, and seconded by Councilman Steele, that the regular
ssion of the City Council to be held on the 16th day of December, 1947, be set as the date
the public hearing upon the aonliention referred to in the above report. Motion carried.
13UILDIZIG PERMITS.
A request for a building, permit was presented and read in full, as follows:

Permission is renuested to renew the roof of my dwelling, situate
636 Foster Street, with asphalt shingles; at an estimated cost of approximately

Permit granted.
It was moved by Councilman Carroll, and seconded by Councilman Steele, that the build-
ing permit requested by Mr. Barros be granted. Motion carried.
CO11,MUNICATIONS.
From Assocn. of 'flash. Cities.
Several bulletins and reports of the Association of L:#ashington Cities were acknowledges
and were ordered filed for reference in the office of the city clerk.
ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS.
Fifth Street Vacation Ordinance. OR01Nr1Nc6 /}��• �=CL�
An ordinance providing for the vacation of a portion of Fifth Street, in the Eisenbeis
Addition; as approved by the Council after public hearing at a previous session; was
presented and read in full for the first reading, at this time, as follows:
AN ORDINANCE of the City of Port Townsend vacating a portion of a street in the
Eisenbeis Addition to said city.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF.THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND DO ORDAIN AS F'OLLO:SS:
Section 1. That that portion of 5th street between the westerly line of Hancock
Street and State Highway No. 9 (officially designated by the City Council of the
City of Port Townsend as Sims Itay) all in the Eisenbeis Addition to the City of
Port 'Townsend, be and the some is hereby vacated.
Section 2. That this ordinance be published once in the Port Townsend Leader to
be 1n force and take effect as provided by law.
PASSED by the City Council November , 1947.
APPROVED by the Mayor November , 1947.

It was moved by Gouncilman Carroll, and seconded by Councilman Mueller, that the first
reading be considered as the second reading, and that the third reading be by title only.
Upon roll call vote, all six councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion was
declared carried.
Third Reading and Passage.
The ordinance under consideration was read by title only for the third reading and,
upon completion thereof, it visa moved by Councilman Carroll, and seconded by Councilman
Steele, that the ordinance do now pass. Upon roll call vote, all six councilmen present
voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried.
UNFINISHED AND N07 BUSINESS.
Peter Norby welcomed.
Mayor Anderson took this opportunity to extend a welcome home to Mr. Peter Norby, who
had just returned from an extended trip to Norway, and invited Mr. Norby to speak upon his
trip, if he so desired.
I4r. Norby outlined his travels, mentioning various highlights and describing conditions
as he observed them.
