The City Clerk, reportlnp upon the previous request of Mrs. BSarjorie Cline for a street
lease and action having been deferred pending definite information as to the street desipne d,
stated that the portion of street desired had been determined to be Thayer Street between
V.ashington and Jefferson Streets.
S I It was moved by Councilman Gleason, and seconded by Councilman menedetto, that the
street lease desired by :ors. Cline be granted at a rental of $1.00 dollars per annum.
Discussion upon this motion brought forth the information that the port district was
attempting to eliminate "the shanty town" in that area and made questionable the advisability
of lensing streets for the purpose intended.
It was moved by Councilman Steele that the previous motion of Councilman Gleason be
tabled This motion was seconded by gouncilmen Osborne and upon roll call vote Councilman
Steele, Osborne, and Sullivan voted in the affirmative and Councilmen Gleason and Benedetto
voted in the negative and motion was declared carried.

Fire and Light Committee
Councilmen Gleason, chairman of the Committee on sire and Light, repnrted that upon
the recent occasion of a fire at the port district boat haven, the inadequacy of the fire
prevention facilities upon the port property had been throughly demonstrated; and Councilma
Gleason suggested that Attorney Daly who is also the legal representative of the port distr et
carry to the co:mnisabners thereof a request to consider installing fire hydrants upon the
property as one of the improvements to be considered in the development program.
At the suggestion of -r. Daly, Councilmen Uleason moved that the City Clerk draft a
letter to the port commissioners asking consideration of the Councils request for added
fire protection facilities upon the oort property. This motion .,.,as seconded by Councilman
Steele and carried by voice vote of the members present.
