That portion of Gise Street lying between Seventh Street and Tax No. 4, Section 10, Township 30 North, nange 1 Test, W. M. Oar:•oll ai Public Hearing Date Set l Councilman Car,•oll spoke briefly on the merits of the vac,,tfon of streets requested y above and in termination moved that the City Council approve the application and set the 1 date of the recufred public hearing thereon for the regular session of the City Council y to be held upon November 18, 1947; and providing that the petitioners bear all costs incidenil to this reou.st. Councilman Csrroll's motion was seconded by Councilman Osborne and upon roll call vote all five Councilmen present voted in the affirmative and :::otion was declared carried. Councilman Carroll introduced the matter of the number of hours which members of the !!} fire department were now, on duty and stated that the subject was presented at this time for the purpose of discussion only in view of the fact that there was some request for the Cm- ployment of an additional full time firemen and provision would be necessary therefor in the 1948 budget which would come up for hearing shortly. Mr. Jones also reported that the street surfacing program for this year was now finishe land that the City had been fortunate in that it had been possible to complete more of this work than was thought possible u^der original estimates; and he stated further that he would start shorty on the Drovram for next year and attem::t to provide a more comprehensive pro- gram by reason of the additional time which could be given to these plans. Re: Inspection of "'eat Dr. Shirley Benham, Jr.,also in response to the Mayors invitation, reported that he had recently received from the State Department of Agriculture a clarification of the regulation pertaining to the handling of meat, particularly with reference to meat provided for locker storage, and explained to the Council certain of the provisions as clarified by that depart - went ADJOURNMENT No furthez• business appearing for consideration by the Council at this time it was moved by Councilmen Carroll and seconded by Councilman Sullivan that the Council do now adjourn. Daly; City Clerk, C. F. Christian; and Councilmen Geo. J. Osborne, J. M. Carroll Geo. F. Mueller, Ralph H. Steele, and A. Benedetto. Councilmen H. E. Gleason arrived during the session.
