It was moved by Councilman Sullivan and seconded by Councilman Mueller that permits be granted as requested in the foregoing applications. Motion carried. COMMUNICATIONS From Dirk Van Wieringen, to -wit: Port Townsend, Washington August 28, 1947 Honorable Mayor and City Council r i Port Town. -end, Washington Gentlemen: Permission is requested to move a dwelling, 161 x 201 from its present lo- cation at Block 37, Original Townsite, to Block 1, Littlefields Addition. Moving will be done by Leonard Balch, who has previously provided bond for such purposes in the City of Port Townsend. From Association of Washington Cities. A bulletin of the Association of Wash. Cities relative to the Association regional meetings was noted received by the City Clerk who stated that suggestions as to topics to be discussed at the session could be placed with the Clerk for submission to the Associatie REQUISITIONS Garbage Dept. A requisition by the Garbage Dept. for one-two and one-half ton truck chassis on which to mount the elgin garbage body unit, was presented and read. It was moved by Councilman Mueller and seconded by Qouncilman Sullivan that the requisition be granted. Councilman Gleason moved that the previous motion be amended to provide that a call for bids to furnis such equipment be issued, said bids to be opened at the first regular session of the City Council to be held'in October. Councilman Gleason's motion was seconded by Couhcilman Carroll and upon roll call vote all seven Councilman present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried. Roll call vote was taken upon the original motion and all seven Councilmen present voting in the affirmative the motion was declared carried. UNFINISHED AND NEW BUSINESS Re: Sidewalk Re;dr; Madison and Water Streets. Councilman Carroll introduced the matter of the unsafe condition of the wooden side- walk upon the Water St. side of the property situate the north-westerly corner of the in- tersection of Madison and ',.'.'star Sts, and moved that the City Clerk be directed to notify the owner of said nroperty to provide for a proper sidewalk on this location or upon failur to do so the city would construct such sidewalk and assess the cost of such construction against property concerned. This motion was seconded by Councilman Sullivan and carried by voice vote of the members present. Re: Trees along Sims 'Aay City Engineer Keith Jones called attention of the Council to the fact that the trees planted along Sims Way were,by reason of increased growth, creating at this time a traffic hazard at the intersections of Sims Way with Kerney and Benedict Streets. Mr. Jones re- commended that certain of these trees be removed,and,as the trees were planted as a project of the local Rotary Club,approval by the Club of such action should be requested. Chief of Police Willestoft called attention to the increased traffic at this inter- section do to the movement of heavy equipment by the Army to and from their railroad load- ing facilities nearby. This manner was discussed for a:short period and was referred joint to the Street Committee and City Engineer. No further business appearing for consideration by the Council at this time it was moved by Councilman Carroll and seconded by Couhcilman Osborne that the Council do now adjourn. Motion carried.
