Chief of Police
The monthly report of the Qdef of Police for the month of August, 1947, showing arrests
and disposition of cases, was presented and outlined and was referred to the Committee on
Police and License.
City Clerk
The City Clerk reported verbally upon Councilman Sullivan and his attendance at a
meeting held in Sequin the previous Thursday evening at which were also present representati
of the City of Port Angdes, the Counties of Clallam and Jefferson, Doctor Benham, Listrict
Health Officer and representative of the State Department of Health, for the purpose of
determining the possibilities of providing funds for the operation of the Olympic Health
Listrict,as provided for by the proposed budget for operation of the District,during the
year 1948.

A written report by the Committee on Streets and Sewers was presented and read in full
as follows:

Your Committee, on Streets and Sewers to whom was referred the matter of
street vacation requests of Geo. Cotton and E. M. Starrett would respectfully report

as follows: that the vacations as requested be approved.

of the Council that in the matter of handling of petitions for the vacation of streets the
jSxa ,t:; Council had been taking upon themselves duties and obligations which are rightfully the res-
ySi. wYy„ ponsibility of the party or parties desiring such vacations. Mr. Daly recommended that the
Council require in the future that persons desiring street vacations proceed in the manner
prescribed by law even to the extent that Me competent legal Council be provided if and
when necessary.
It was moved by Councilman Mueller and seconded by Councilman Carroll that hereafter
r1 o YtsYl9§yi all requests for the vacation of streets be presented in proper legal form and manner before
any consideration be given the same by the Council. Motion carried.
The Committee report entered above in full was ordered placed on file.

' „us(iF t17 Councilman Gleason acting as spokesman for the Street Committee reported that the Com-
mittee recommended denial of the permission requested by Mr. E. E. Hoyt to move a building
on skids over City Streets.
It was moved by Councilman Carroll and seconded by Councilman Sullivan that the Council
accept and approve the foregoing Committee report. ;Lotion carried.
