We, the undersigned department heads, do her::by respectfully request permission
to giant the employees of such departments their annual vacations, at such time or
times as will be of least inconvenience to the duties requiPed of the respective
functions of city government.

It was moved by Councilman Carroll and seconded by Couucilman Gleason that the reques'
presented by various department heads be approved and the authority desired be granted.
Motion carried.

I am writing you requesting a leave of absences from my duty as fireman, as I have to
go into the hospital for an operatio... T request that this be effective the 1 Sept-
ember 1947, and terminating upon my recovery.

Following short discussion relative to reason for presentation of the above request
it was moved by Councilman Carroll and seconded by Councilmen Osborne that the leave of
absence requested by Wr. Albright be g:•anted. Motion carried.
From Association of Washington Cities
Bulletins of the Assoc..of Washington Cities were noted received and ordered filed
for reference following the Clerk's calling attention of the officers and members to the
notice of the regional meeting of the Assoc. tentatively set for September 26 at Sequim.

Fifth Street Vacation nearing
This being the time and date set for the public hearing upon the proposed vacation of
a portion of Fifth Street,as per the application of William F. Bishop, owner of the abud-
ding property, the City Clerk at this time read the notice of such hearing together with
affadavit of posAng of same,in full,as follows:

William F. "ishop, having filed with the City Council of the Oity of Port Townsen
Jefferson County, Washington, a petition requesting the vacation of a part of a certai
street within said City, to -wit:
That portion of 5th Street situated between the Westerly line
of Hanmck Street and primary State Highway No. 9, (officially
designated by the City Council as Sims Way).
NOTICE IS BEREBY GIVEld
That pursuant to a motion duly made, seconded and passed by the City Council of
the City of Port Townsend on the 1st day of July, 1947, the said petition will be heat
at the hour of 7:30 o'clock P.N., or as soonthereafter as practicable, on Tuesday the
19th day of August, 1947, in the Oouncil Chambers of the Oity Hall of the City of Port
Townsend, Jefferson County, Washington, when and where any person or persons may appes
and make exceptions or objections to the proposed vacation.
IN CVITNESS tCHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the Official

the regularly elected, qualified and acting City "lerk of the City of Port Townsend,
State of Washington; that he posted notices, the annexed of which is a full, true and
correct copy, in the following places in the said City of Port 'T'ownsend, Washington,
as follows:
One at thn front door of the Olty Ball in the "ity of
Port •ownsend.
One at the frontdoor of the Jefferson County Court House.
One on the bulletin board at the corner of Taylor and "Eater
Streets in said City, and
Two on the part of street sought to be vacated;
That such posting wag made on the loth day of July, 1947.

Yayor Anderson stated that the purpose of this hearing was to give any person or
persons the opportunity to speak for or against the street vacation proposed and if there
were any present that wished to be heard they might do so at this time.

Vacation Granted.
There being none present signifying a desire to speak upon the proposed vocation,it we
moved by Councilman Carroll and seconded by Councilman Gleason that the vacation of a
fportion
of 5th Street,as requested,be granted and that the petitioner present to the Oouncl
for consideration an ordinance providing for such vacation. Upon roll call vote,all five
Councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion visa declared carried.
Clallam Street Vacation Hearing.
This being the time and date set for public hearing upon the proposed vacation of a
portion of Clallam Street, as previously requested by L. D. Solomonson, Goo. 'Nelch and
Claude D. Moulding, the City Clerk,at this time,read,in full,a notice of hearing,and affi-
davit of posting same,as follows:
