HomeMy WebLinkAbout00468 MINUTES OF PREVIOUS SESSION (18)'t Port Townsend, Washington August 19, 1947 11 The CITY COUNCIL of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, met do regular session this 19th day of August, 1947, at 7:30 o'clock P.M., in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, Mayor H. E. Anderson presiding. ROLL CALL Officers and Members answering present upon roll call were as follows: Mayor, H. E. Anderson; City Attorney, IN. J. Daly; City Clerk, C. F. Christian; and Councilmen H. E. Gleason, A. Benedetto, Use. J. Osborne, Dennis Sullivan, and J. M. Carroll. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS SESSION Minutes of the previous session were read in full and it was thereupon moved by Councilman Benedetto and seconded by Councilman Sullivan that the minutes be approved as read. Motion carried. REPORTS OF OFFICERS City Treasurer The monthly report of the City 'Treasurer for the month of July, 1947 was presented and read and was referred to the Committee on Fiance and Claims. 'later Supt. The monthly report of the Water Supt. for the month of July, 1947 was presented and read and was referred to the Committee on Water and Drainage. The report of the 'dater Supt. showing flow of water through mainland meters for the week ending August 18, 1947, and the 0iown Zellerbach Corporation twenty inch meter for the week ending August 9, 1947 was presented and read and was referred to the Committee on 'date and Drainage. City Clerk The City Clerk reported verbally that requirements for the State 1''iname Committee had been met with regard to beginning of construction of the new Fire Hall, that contract with successful bidder had been completed, bond would be provided by the contractor in the next day or two, and the actual construction would no doubt begin shortly thereafter. The City Clerk reported also that a portion of the material required for the street lighting project for which advance order had been placed, had arrived here and would be unloaded tomorrow and stored pending arrival of the other material ordered. Principle of items received are the standards which will support the necessmy luminaries. REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES Re: Willow Street Lighting Councilman Gleason, reporting for the Committee of Fire and Light, stated that upon investigation of the request of residents of the vicinity of "B" and 17illow streets for additional street light and that it was felt that the desired result could be obtained by changing one street light from its present location near the residence designated as 403 Willow Street to the next power pole southerly therefrom. Councilman Gleason moved that the Council order such change and that the City Clerk advise the Puget Sound Power and Ligh Co. of the change desired. This motion was seconded by Councilman Carroll and carried by voice vote of the members present. BUILDING PERMITS Request for granting of building permits were presented, read, and acted upon as follo s: From Dorothy Meyers, to -wit: Port Townsend, Washington^ rs4' r August 12, 1947� Mayor City Honorable and Council Port 'Townsend, Washington'i�# Gentlemen: Permission is requested to remodel my home and to erect a frame garage on illy property situate 1507 Washington Street. Reeks, to -wit: Port Townsend, Washington August 7, 1947 To the Honorable Mayor and City Council Per# Townsend, Washington Gentlemen: Permission is requested to make an addition to my house, situated on E. and Cherry, Estimated cost is $100.00. Estimated cost of materials, approximately $200.00. Respectfully submitted J. J. Lafferty Permits granted It was moved by Councilman Carroll and seconded by Councilman Sullivan that permits be granted to the foregoing in accordance with the required forms. Motion carried. COYMUNICATIONS Various communciations were presented, read, and acted upon as follows: From Port of Port Townsend, to -wit: Port Townsend, Wash August 19, 1947 � Honorable Mayor and City Council City of Port 'Townsend Port Townsend, Washington Gentlemen: The Port Commission of the port of Fort Townsend has approved an application of Bonzo De Leo, to furnish gasoline to the Boat Harbor. To accomplish this objective it will be necessary for him to place a pump in front of his property (the old rend cannery) and drive a pipe under Washington Street. I Any courtest that the city can extend to Mr. De Leo will be appreciated by1he Port Commission. I U N ' Very truly yours, Jas F. Hoyt, to -wit: Port Townsend, Washington August 19, 1947 Mr. Mayor & Members of City Council I wish a permit to transport a frame buidling from two blocks east of 49th & Grant to my property on Umatila Ave. The building is 15+ wide by 221 long by 161 high. It is now set on skids and I hope to drag it from its present location. I intend to go east on 49th at. to San Juan, South on San Juan to Umatila and -4s on Unatila three blocks to my location. I want to use the building as a dwelling as soon as possible as the owners of the place we are in now want to take possession within thirty days. Mr. E. E. Hoyt Walnut & R. St. Port 'Townsend, 'r:n.
