Vacations granted.

Rule governing vacation chanced.
A discussion ryas held among the Coum:iln.en relative to the rule requiring anproval by
the Council and to the nmount time for such vacation during which Councilman Carroll pre-
sented a motion whereby rule 29 •could be abolished and ce:•tain vacation and sick leave pri-
vileCes would be established, v;hich motion was subsequently withdrawn. Disr:ussion was ter-
minated by arotion of Councilman Gleason that itule 29 be amended to read that an annual vaca-
tion of tv;o weeks be a';;a:•ded each employee qualified by sufficient length of time of employ-
ment such vacation to be at the ^iscretlon of the heads of the vax•ious departments. Thin
motion .,.,as seconded by Uouncll::.an Carroll end, upon roll call vote, all six Councilmen
present voted in the affirmstive and motion '.ras •'.eclared car i�•d.
he: City aid for Memorial Field.
SCr. 'A. H. Carder, City Superintendent of •-ohools, was ar:avded the privilege of the
f]oor and .thereupon stated that the funds available .were insufficient to properly complete
the L'.enorial yield. Mr. Cnrder asked that the Council consider the possibility of providing
additional monies for a portion of the :cork a,-cucsed.
The Council discussed this matter briefly and it was then moved by Councilman Mueller
and seconded by Councilman Osborne, that this matter he referred to the Committee on binaries
and Claims together with the City Attorney for investigution and r---port back to the Council.

The minutes of the previous session were read in full and upon completion thereof it
was moved by Councilman Gleason, and seconded by Councilman Dueller, that the minutes be
approved as read. Motion carried.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS
City Attorney
City Attorney Daly reported with reference to the matter of letting contract for con-
ly
struction of the proposed Fire Hall, which was referred at the last regular session, and
stated that he had called by phone the State Finance Committee and the State Division of
Municipal Corporations and that these officers had requested that altered specifications be
drawn and a second call for bids be proposed.
Sullivan arrives
Councilman Sullivan arrives during the City Attorneys report and assumed his duties as
n Councilman.
Bids called.
It visa moved by Councilman Carroll, and seconded by Councilman Dueller, that the City
call for bids for constfuction of the kire Hall upon specifications as originally drawn and
thereafter changed to the extent agreed upon in consultation with Mr. Sam Linden previous
low bidder and as later proposed in thebid received from Cotton Engineering and Shipbuildin
Corporation.
The motion was discussed briefly and upon roll call vote thereof all six Councilmen

present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried.
