Re: Repairs to Library
Yr. S. L, Lockhart, City Supervisor of Public Buildings, who had been directed to make
a thorough survey of the condition of the roof of the Public Library Building, reported
that the building was beyond a doubt in need of a new roof. Upon thorough inspection it had
been determined that the present metal roof is in much vrorse condition then would appear
to be the case. ;dr. Lockhart recommended the use of rigid composition shingles for renewal
of the roof and stated that the gutters had been properly installed ordini lly could not be
satisfactoryily repaired and should therefore be replaced.
Re: Low Bost Housing
Upon invitiation by the Mayor so to do, Yr.Vlard 1`illiams introduced t the Council
.r. James Lannon and Yr. Robert C. Parsons representatives of Watheny & Company. L7r, Hannon
as spokesman, stated that Matheny & Company could now off erlow•cost prefab icated homes
and briefly outlined the advantages clFimed for t`lis construction. He sta ed that these
homes had been approved by the F.H.A., and ;were acceptable for the grantin of the so-called
G.I. home loan. Yr. Hannon advised the Council that his object in apneari g before them
was to secure approval by the Council, for submission of such data to the Local housing
committee should one exist, or to the Chamber of Commerce. Dicussion insu d during which
several questions were submitted by members of the Council and ans•,vered by Mr. Hannon, but
no official actionwas taken by the Councilin as much, as an official housi g committee does
exist in this city and the Council is therefore in no position to take official action.
