Requisitions by officers and department heads were presented and acted upon as follows:
From City 'Treasurer.
For new floor covering
For new locks on the windows,
These locks are broken.
Requisition granted.
It was moved by Councilman Mueller, and seconded by councilman Carroll, that the fore-
;oind requisition be allowed. Roll call vote all six councilmen voted in the affirmlative
ind motion was declared carried.
From Street Department.

Requisition allowed.
It was moved by Councilman Mueller, and seconded by Councilman Steele, that the preceed-
ing requisition be allowed. Upon roll call vote all six councilmen voted in the affirmlative
and the motion was declared carried.
ORDINANCES AND hESOLUTIONS,
Petroleum Storage Ordinance.
A proposed ordinance providing for ammendment of the city ordinance regulating the
storage of petroleum and its products, which was ordered by the council at the last regular
session, was presented and read in full for the first reading at this time as follows:

AN ORDINANCE of the City of rort Townsend amending Section 2 of Ordinance No. 800,
entitled "An Ordinance Regulating the Keeping and Storing of Crude Petroleum and its
Products r:iti:in the Limits of the City of Port Townsend, 7ashington"; repealing said Section
2; and repealing Ordinance No. 813, entitled "An Ordinance amending Section 2 of Ordinance N1
800, entitled "An Ordinance regulating the keeping and storing of crude petroleum and its
products 'within the limits of the City of Port 'T'o.,nsend, .'ashington',' and repealing said
section 2".

Section 1. That Section 2 of Ordinance No. 800, entitled "An Ordinance Regulating the
Keeping and Storing of Crude Petroleum and its Products within the Limits of the City of
Port '1'6r:nsend, :Sashington", be and the sane is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 2. It shall be unlawful for any person, persons, firm or cornorat•ion to keep
or store crude petroleum or any of its products in quantities exceeding one hundred gallons,
unless such petroleum and its products be kept and stored in metal tanks located so as to
leave a clew space of not less than one hundred feet between such tank or tanks and any
combustible property, other than tanks for the storage of petroleum or any of its products,
and be surrounded by an embankment or bulkhead capable of r.tuining one and on -third times
the contents of such tank or tanks, which said embankment or bulkhead shall have no openings
and shall be constructed of non combustible material and in good workman like manner and of
such height and thickness as will reasonable answer the purpose for which it is built
according to the judgement of the council granting the permit. erovided, however, that this
section shall not apply to the storage of fuel oil in connection with fuel oil burning plant
Section 3. '!'hat section two of said Ordinance No. 800 be and the same is hereby
repealed.
Section 4. 'That Ordinance No. 813, entitled "And Ordinance amending Section 2 of
Ordinance No. 800, entitled "And Ordinance regulating the keeping and storing of crude
petroleum and its products within the limits of the City of Port 'Townsend, Yfashington",
and repealing said section 211, be and the same is hereby repealed in its entirety.
Section 5. That this ordinance shall be published once in the Port Townsend Leader,
to take effect and be in force from and after rive days of the date of such publication.

' Third Reading and Passage.
The ordinance under consideration was read by title only for the third reading where-
upon it was moved by Councilman Carroll, and seconded by Councilman Gleason, that the
ordinance do now pass. Upon roll call vote all six councilmen present voted in the
affirmiative and motion visa declared carried.
UNFINISHED ANL NE':' BUSINESS.
Commemorative Resolution Ordered.
It was moved by Councilman Gleason, and seconded by Councilman Carroll, that the City
Attorney and City Clerk prepare and present a resolution commemorating the record of servic
to the city of former Councilman 'William Lammers Sr., now deceased. Upon roll call vote
all six councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried.
Keith F. Jones Acpointed City Lngineer.
Mayor Anderson, at this time, announced the appointment of Yr. Keith Y. Jones as City
Engineer effective Yay 1st, 1947 at a monthly salary of fifty dollars ('$50.00) as paid -
the prior appointee to this position.
Hearing on Vacation of a Portion of 5th Street.
This being the time and place set by the City Council for a public hearing on the
proposed vacation of a portion of 5th Street, the City Clerk, at this time, read in full
copv of notice and affidavit of posting of same as follows:

Dennis Sullivan, Mary G. Sullivan, Paul DeChamplain and Frances DeChamplain, having

petition requesting the vacation of a part of a certain street within said City, to -wit:
That Portion of 5th street in'the 1st Supplemental Plat
of Efsenbeis Addition to the City of Port 'Townsend, lying
between the westerly boundary of wcPherson street and the
westerly boundary of the plat of said addition.
