UNFINISHED AND NEW BUSINESS
Re: Dog Licenses
Councilman Sullivan stated that in as much as dog licenses for the year 1947 were now
due and payable, it might be well, in view of the presence at this session of a representa-
tive of the local newspaper, to ask that this matter be publicized therein.
Re: City Hall Improvements
Councilman Sullivan reported that the renovation of the city hall by removal of the
third story and completion of a new roof was progressing satisfactorily, and stated that he
felt that the program of improvement to the city hall should be enrried further by the re-
moval and destruction of obsolete records, and the proper storage of such records as should
be kept, most of which were now in a jumble in unused rooms on the second floor.
It was moved by Councilman Gleason that a competent person be employed to sort, file
and index engineering records, such as maps, tracings, etc., and that other records be
sorted and destroyed, where possible, under supervision of the City Attorney. This motion
was seconded by Councilman Sullivan and carried by voice vote of the members present.
Committees Named
Mayor Anderson, at this time, submitted his list of members of the council appointed
to the various standing committees, stating that in as much as the committees, as consti-
tuted during the past term, have been functioning well, he had made no changes except the
appointment of the newly elected councilman, George Osborne, to those positions on commit-
tees previously filled by Councilman Ylm. Lammers, Sr.

Postscript \
Following adjournment it appeared that Mr. Clark Aldrich had wished to make a comment
before the council upon the proposed establishment of a new highway route from the peninsula
area to Seattle. All councilmen being still present, informal session was resumed. Mr.
Aldrich presented a plan of the proposed route, action taken to date thereon at various
adria meetings, and objections to such a route from the standpoint of the average traveler from
this district.
This subject was discussed pro and con at some length, and terminated by the motion
of Councilman Carroll that the Mayor be authorized to submit a request by telegraph to the ,
appropriate department of the state government for public hearing upon the establishment of
;v t, the proposed route,to be held in this city before final determination by the state upon such
a route. This motion was seconded by Councilman Osborne, and upon voice vote, was declared
