It was moved by Councilman Sullivan, and seconded by Councilman Gleason, that the fore- going bills be allowed, and that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to sign warrants issued upon the proper funds in payment thereof. Upon roll call vote, all five councilmen present voted in the affirmative, and motion was declared carried. Councilman Lammers Honored. Mayor Anderson requested that the rules of the council be suspended briefly at this time to permit the presentation of a resolution by Councilman Carroll. In the absence of any objection, Councilman Carroll presented the resolution to the City Clerk for reading, and moved that on completion of reading, the resolution be adopted. The resolution as read by the City Clerk at this time was as follows: RESOLUTION NO. _ % 1 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COU14CIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOilNSEND: That suitable recognition should be given upon the retirement of Councilman William Lammers, Sr., from public service after a practically uninterrupted tenure for twenty years in the dffice of City Councilman for the 4th ward of the City of Port Townsend. His attention to duty and faithfulness toward the solution of civic problems has been a constant inspiration to his associates and city employees; his counsel and guidance will be genuinely missed in the deliberations of this body and his departure from public life a loss to all citizens of our city. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED and this CITY COUNCIL directs that Mr. H. E. Anderson, Mayor of the City of Port Townsend, Mr. C. F. Christian, City Clerk, and a Councilman to be selected by the Mayor, personally deliver to Mr. Lammers a certified copy of this resolution. ADOPTED by the City Council in regular session assembled this 7th day of January, 1947. ATTEST: City Clerk 0 Mayor F u 0 C U 197 Councilman Gleason seconded the previous motion of Councilman Carroll for adoption of this resolution, and upon call by the Mayor for a standing vote thereon, each Councilman present arose to vote in the affirmative, and motion was declared carried unanimously. INTRODUCTION OF NEW COUNCILMEN Councilman Osborne Seated. This being the time set by law for newly elected councilmen to assume their duties for the forthcoming term of office, Mayor Anderson requested City Attorney Daly to present Mr. George J. Osborne, newly elected Councilman for the 4th ward. Mr. Daly escorted Mr. Osborne to his chair, determined that Mr. Osborne had been duly elected and sworn in, and with a few well chosen words, made proper introduction to those present of the newly elected 4th ward Councilman. The Black & White Cab Co. pledges itself for better and more reliable taxi service to the people of Port Townsend in the coming New Year. It was moved by Councilman Gleason, and seconded by Councilman Benedetto, that the license requested in the foregoing application be granted. Motion carried.
