It was moved by Councilman Gleason, and seconded by Councilman Benedetto, that the fire
eading be considered as the second reading, and that the third reading be by title only.

The proposed ordinance was read by title only for the third reading, following which it
as moved by Councilmen Gleason, and seconded by Councilman Steele, that the ordinance do no

UNFINISHED AND NEI; BUSINESS.
Re: Vacation of Fourth Street.
Councilman Mueller reported that the members of the street committee approved the
applicationrof a portion of Fourth Street, as read earlier in the session, and he moved that
the proper proceedure be followed by city officials to provide for a public hearing upon the
proposed vacation at the regular session of the city council to be held on February 18, 1947
This motion was seconded by Councilman Gleason, and carried by voice vote of the members pre
State X-Ray Unit to be here.
Councilman Carroll noted that Dr. Benham, District Health Officer was present, and
inquired if Dr. Benham had any information for the council.
Dr. Benham stated that there was one part of the Health program that he wished to bring
to the attention of the council. He felt that it would be well to advise the council that
the mobile X-Rey unit operated by the state for the detection of tuberculosis, which had
made a previous visit to this city, was tentatively scheduled to again be in the city during
the second week in February. Plans called for its use among workers at the paper mill,
children at the schools, and if time would permit the facilities would be made available to
the general public.
Re: Fifth Ward Sewer Survey.
Councilmen Sullivan reported that he had made arrangements for a preliminary survey for
a sewer line in a part of the fifth ward. He stated that it had been necessary to hire some
labor to carry out the survey, and inquired as to the possibility of borrowing from city
funds to pay the laborers. The subject was discussed briefly but no action was taken by the
council as a body.

The City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, met in regular session this
7th day of January, 1947, at 7:30 o'clock P.M., in the Council Chambers of the City Hall,
Mayor H. E. Anderson presiding.
ROLL CALL.
Officers and Members answering present to roll call were as follows: Mayor,
H. E. Anderson; City Attorney, W. J. Daly; City Clerk, C. F. Christian; and Councilmen,
J. M. Carroll, Geo. F. Mueller, A. Benedetto, Dennis Sullivan and--George_OR orne. Council-
men Ralph H. Steele and.H. E. Gleason arrived during the meeting, and Councilman Wm. Lamner
Sr. was excused from attendance.
MINUTES OF PREVIOUS SESSION.
Gleason arrives.
Councilman Gleason arrived during the reading of the minutes and assumed his duties.
The minutes of the previous session were read, and upon completion thereof it was
moved by Councilman Mueller, and seconded by Councilman Sullivan, that the minutes be
approved as read. Motion carried.
