The City Clerk reported that no reply had been received, as yet; and it was thereupon moved by Councilman Gleason, and seconded by Councilman Sullivan, that the operators be "i instructed that the secondtmeeting of the council to be held in January, 1947, be the date set for consideration ofthis matter. Motion carried. 1. l ADJOURNMENT. �. No further business appearing for consideration by the council at this time, it was {' moved by Councilman Carroll, and seconded by Councilman Steele, that the council do now adjourn. Motion carried. I� The CITY COUNCIL of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, met in regular session this I� 17th day of December, 1946, at 7:45 otcl6ck P.M,., in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, Mayor, Pro Tem, J. M. Carroll presiding. ROLL CALL. Officers and Members noted present upon roll call were as follows: City Attorney, IV. J. Daly; City Clerk, C. F. Christian; and Councilmen, J. M. Carroll, Geo. F. Mueller, Ralph H. Steele, H. E. Gleason, A. Benedetto, and Dennis Sullivan. Councilman Tm. Lammers Sr. was excused from attendance. i MINUTES OF PREVIOUS SESSION. i The minutes of the previous session were read, and it was thereupon moved by Councilman Steele, and seconded by Councilman Mueller, that the minutes be approved as read. Motion carried. 'APPLICATIONS FOR LICENSES. Applications for various licenses were presented, read, and acted upon as follows: From Ruby Amusement Co., to -wit: Dec. 16, 1946. Mayor and City Council of Port Townsend: I hereby apply for license of amusement devices with check for the year of 1947 and location license for month of Jan. 1947. Ruby Amusement Co. By. M. R. Strong i License granted. jIt was moved by Councilman Mueller, and seconded by Councilman Sullivan, that license be granted Mr. Strong, as requested. Following short discussion as to advisability of granting this license prior to passage l ofthe licensing ordinance presented at a former session, it was moved by Councilman Steele, j and seconded by Councilman Gleason, that the previous motion be tabled. Upon roll call vote Councilmen Steele, Gleason, and Benedetto voted in the affirmative and Councilmen Carroll, Mueller, and Sullivan voted in the negative, and motion visa declared lost. i Further action upon the original motion now being in order, a roll call vote was taken thereon and all six Councilmen present voting in the affirmative the motion was declared carried and license granted. ? From R. D. Benson, to -wit: Port Townsend, Wash. City Council December 11, 1946 Port Townsend, Wash. Gentlemen: We would like you to consider this request for the renewal of our licenses to operate two taxi -cabs in the city of Port Townsend. Thank you, Yellow Cab Company R. D. Benson, Owner. Cab Stands limited. Prior to consideration of the foregoing request, it was moved by Councilman Sullivan, and sedonded by Councilman Steele, that each cab operator in the city be limited to a restricted area for standing one cab only. Upon roll call bote, all six councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried. Benson granted license. It was moved by Councilman Gleason, and seconded by Councilman Sullivan, that license be granted Mr. Benson as per his request. Motion carried. REPORTS OF OFFICERS. Street Vacation Hearing set. Councilman Mueller reported that the application of Mr. W. V. Benedetto for the aacatio of Benton Street, between Rater and Front Streets, which was read at the last regular sessio. and was referred to the Street Committee, had been approved by said committee; and Council- man Mueller then moved that the regular session of February 18, 1947, be set ag.the time of the public hearing thereon, that the City Clerk post proper notices thereof, and that the City Attorney prepare an ordinance providing for such vacation. This motion was seconded by Councilman Steele, and carried by voice vote of the members present. City Treasurer. The monthly report of the City Treasurer, for the month of Novembbr, 1946, was presents and read, and was referred to the committee on Finance and Claims. BUILDING PERMITS. Requests for building permits were presented, read, and acted upon as follows: From Andy De Leo, to -wit: Port Townsend, 'Washington December 9, 1946. Honorable Mayor and City Council Port Townsend, Washington. Gentlemen: Permission is requested to build an addition, 161 x 22t, to my dwelling situate 19th and Haines Streets; at an estimated cost of approximately $200.00 for materials. Respectfully submitted, Andy De Leo From Cliff Folmsbee, to -wit: Port Townsend, Washington December 10, 1946. Honorable Mayor and City Council Port Townsend, Washington. Gentlemen: Permission is requested to make alterations to my dwelling situate 1215 Jefferson Street, using materials now used in the structure; and to tear down a shed on the same property and build an addition to my garage with the materials therefrom. Respectfully submitted, Cliff Folmsbee Permits granted. It was moved by Councilman Sullivan, and seconded by Councilman Benedetto, that per- mission be granted in accordance with the foregoing requests. Motion carried.
