location at 1238 Blaine Street to the adjoining property westerly, said property
being designated as Lot 9, Kuhn's Ranch Addition.

It was moved by Councilman Sullivan, and seconded by Coundlman Steele, that permits be
granted, as requested in the foregoing applications. Motion carried.

Gentlemen: I hereby make application for vacation of the blind end of
bentmn Street between 'eater and Front street.
I own the property on each side of the blind end of said Benton street
which are lots 1 and 2 in block 16 and lots 7 and 8 in block 15 also other
adjacent lots all in the original townsite.
It is my intention of leveling the big hump in said Section 16 and at the
same time leveling slid blind end of said Benton street. This will make an
improvement in the appearande along this area and will enable me to construct
some good buildings thereon.

line of block "B", R'ayson's Addition, a distance of approximately 1300 ft.
We would appreciate your giving this matter fullest consideration as the
street is needed to make accessible properties ofthe undersigned.

ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS.
Fire Hall Construction ordinance.
A prepared ordinance providing for a fund for the construction of a new fire hall, and
acquisition of monies thereto, was presented and read in full for the first reading, as fol

AN ORDINANCE relating to the program of capital improvements to the City of Port
Townsend by the construction of a new fire hall and creating the "PORT 'TOWNSEND FIRE HALL+:
STATE DEVELOPLENT FUND" to receive funds allocated to said project by the Washington State
Development Board; to receive transfers from the Current Expense Fund of said city and to
provide for expenditures.
WHEREAS, the Washington State Development board under authority of Chapter 255, Laws o.
Washington, 1945, has approved an allocation of $22,600.00 of state funds by outright grant
for the purpose of aiding in the construction cost of a new fire hall in the City of Port
Townsend to be located upon Lots 1 and 3 in'block Z of Kuhn's Ranch, an addition to the
City of Port Townsend, and,
WHEREAS, there has been provided in the official budget for the Current Expense Fund o,
said city for the year 1946 and 1947, matching funds as contemplated by Chapter 255 afore
said, and,
WHEREAS, in order to make said state funds available, it is necessary that a special
fund be created for said project, now theregore,
THE CITY COU14CIL OF THE CITY OF' PORT TOWNSEND DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That there is hereby created in the City Treasury of the City of Port
Townsend a special fund designated the "PORT 'TOWNSEND FIRE HALL -STATE DEVELOPMENT FUND" int
which shell be paid all moneys allocated by the Washington State Development board under
Chapter 255, Laws of Washington, 1945, as a grant in aid for the construction cost of a new
fire hall in the City of Port 'Townsend to be located upon Lots 1 and 3 in Block Z of Kuhn's
Ranch, an addition to said city.
Section 2. Into which fund the City 'Treasurer of the City of Port 'Townsend shall
forthwithlitransfer the sum of �15,000.00 from the Current Expense Fund of said city, the
1946 matching and budgeted contribution toward the construction cost of said project,and
shall further, as soon after January 1, 1947, as practicable, transfer the 1947 budget
appropriation for this purpose in like manner.
Section 3. Such state allocation and transfers shall represent the whole of said.fund
and the estimated construction cost of said project. Expenditures from said fund shall be

under regulations as established by the Washington State Development board.
Section 4. That this ordinance be published once in the Port Townsend, Leader to be in
full force and take effect five days from and after the date of such publication.

City Attorney Daly briefly outlined the status of the fire hall project and further•
steps necessary to finance same which are provided for in the foregoing.
It was moved by Councilman Gleason, and seconded by Councilman Carroll, that the first
reading be considered as the second reading, and that the third reading be by title only.
Upon roll call vote, all six councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion was
declared carried.
Third Reading and Passage.
The proposed ordinance was read by title only for the third reading and it was there-
upon moved by Councilman Carroll, and seconded by Councilman Gleason, that the ordinance
do now pass. Upon roll call vote, all six councilmen present voted in the affirmative and
motion was declared carried.
Music Lachine License ordinance.
An ordinance providing for the licensing of mechanical music machines was p;esentei
and read in full for the first reading, at this time, as follows:
