Councilman ILueller inquired as to whether provision was made for a new taxing authority
or if funds would be derived from the normal tax sources of city and county. :[r. Lay stated
that under the law the district would be empowered to levy up to a maximum of three mills.
He stated further that the cstime+ted cost of an airport of the necessary size would be, in
round figures, $150,000.00, of which the Federal Government visa empowered to provide not to
-,
exceed 50 of the construction cost and 25% of the cost of the site acquired. Further
i
„
ma)Q&ing funds might be provided by the State at a later date, but none were available at
this time.
A short discussion upon the various phases of this matter followed, terminated by the
1 r,
Mayor's referral to the Finance Committee and City Attorney for investigation and later
report.
