HomeMy WebLinkAbout00373 Minutes of Regular Session of April 2, 1946, continued:90 Minutes of Regular Session of April 2, 1946, continued: UNFINISHED AND NEW BUSINESS RE: Clean Up Week Councilman Sullivan requested that the customary spring clean up week be observed, and recomcended the week of May 12 to 18 in as much as the annual Ti dodandron Festival was scheduled to be observed shortly thereafter. Councilman Sullivan also suggested and re- quested that the local press endeavor to publicize this undertaking to the best of their abilities and facilities. It was mutually agreed that this occasion be observed, but no legislative action was taken by the council upon the matter. 7{ q Re: Oiling Program Councilman Mueller reported that the tentative approved street y. surfacin program for the year 1946 had been set up, and the preliminary estimate of cost totaled �14,386.67. However one portion of the contemplated work had been deleted for which the sum of $263.75 had been estimated and the over-all estimate would therefor be reduced in that amount. Councilman Mueller moved that the street committee of the council be impowered to negotiate with the Jefferson County Commissioners with a view to obtaining contribution of r county funds for the prosecution of this program as has been customary in the past; such meeting to be scheduled for 10:30 AM, Friday following. This motion was seconded by Councilman Steele. City Engineer Lay explained to the council at this time the basis upon which the estimates for this gears program had been determined. The motion of Uouncilman Mueller above stated was put to vote and declared carried. RE: Poles in Street l Councilman Mueller inquired as to action taken upon the matter of utility poles assertedly now located outside the curb at the intersection of Tyler and Lawrence Streets which had been referred to the City Engineer at the last regular session. City Engineer La reported that the investigation disclosed that the poles in question were actually now lo- cated in the traveled area and presented a blue -print sketch showing actual location as determined by measurement. It was moved by Councilman Mueller and seconded by Councilman ;( Carroll that the City Clerk by directed to request the utility companies to move their poles to some point inside the curb line. Motion carried. ., ADJOURNMENT There being no further business before the council for their consideration at this time, it was moved by Councilman Carroll and seconded by Councilman Gleason that the j council do now adjourn.
