MOTION TO RECESS It was moved by Councilman Sullivan and seconded by Councilman Mue ler that the council recess at this time for a short period and upon putting the motion to a vote; the motion was declared lost. RE: Damage by Drainage Water Councilman Sullivan stated that Mr. Cuykendall who was present in Ithe council chamber felt that his dwelling had been damaged by reason of surface water drainage which had crossed his property. Mr. Cuykendall was invited to state his request before the council Fie stated that surface drainage from the streets had in one instance run in considerab a volume across his property striking and flowing under,'And around his dwelling. Since that time his dwelling had settled, plaster walla had cracked, doors did not close, and other minor difficulties had appeared. This matter was informally discussed fora ihort period, and an attempt was made to refer it to the street committee and the street luperintendent. Councilman Carroll moved that the city employ a qualified carpente for a day to make an inspection of the dwelling and report, thereon, to the council. Motion did not receive a second. City Attorney Daly informed those present that in such cases, cla for damage should be put in writing and reduced to actual dollar and cent value and submi tad in such form to the council. ADJOURNMENT No further business appearing for consideration of the council at his time, it was moved by Councilman Sullivan and seconded by Councilman Steele that the council do now adjourn. Motion carried.
