As soon as some action is taken regarding the width of sidovialk oil'ilashington Street, as outlined in the petition, we believe 8 foot would be aide enough, and it mould increase parking space so much desired. C. Hastings Supplemental Addition. They are, namely: The two block long section of 21st Street extending from San Juan to Haines, and The tvio block long section of L:cl;eil extending from 20th to 22nd. I now own outright or an acquiring the four blocks of land crossed by these two secti of streets, namely 81ochs 1, 2, 11, and 12 of 0. C. Hastings Supplemental Addition. See attached sketch. I am planning a development of that land which will be of considerable benefit to the co:ri:,unity, and hesitate to go ahead chitin my plans if I am unable to lease the streets mentioned. ' Councilman '.,'ueller reported that the "tar kettle" now in use by the street department < had become worn to such an extent that it was no longer adequate for the needs of the � department, and that in vied of the increasing use for such equipment it vias economically advisable to purchase a new "kettle".Councilman Crueller then moved that a requisition for ' a new "tar kettle" together with a Hower driven hand spray attachment and other required 1,. accessories, be approved. City Clerk e above assignment is accepted for the consideration states, COUNTY OF JI:TFERSON Seal of By: Uhaa I•man, Board of; Jefferson County County Commissioners Attest: County Au or UNITED STATES CHIEF OF ENGINiERS By: In the discussion which followed the reading oi' the foregoing form, it was stated by Councilman Steele that a federal airport advisor, 6n one of his visits here, had recommended a single controlling agency for such purposes. Councilman 1.meller stated that considerable improvement work was being contemplated for the airport which would require the expenditure of a reasonably large amount of money, and that the county was in a position to complete the proposed work. Assignment approved. It was moved by Councilimn L:ueller, and seconded by Councilman Steele, that the city accept the form of assignment, as tendered, and that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to sign same on behalf of the city. Upon roll call vote, all six councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion visa declared carried. Re: Stevens request. i The matter of the request of :Cr. Claude E. Stevens for a building Hermit, which had .ad been tabled earlier in the session, was again brought to the floor for consideration; and in the ensuing discussion, provisions of the ordinance covering constrAction if the first fire zone, probable value of the building, and the fire hazard of the present structure were considered. Discussion was tgraAnated by the motion of Councilman Carroll, seconded by Councilman Steele, that this matter be referred to the connr.ittee on Fire and Light for renDrt at the next regular session. Motion carried. City Attorney Daly recocm:ended that the report include a written opinion of the fire chief its to the degree of fire hazard involved. Re: acceptance of 7:ater Line. A report and recorrc'endation of Yr. Paul T. Poulsen, engineer employed to supervise the replacement of it portion of the main water supply line, was presented and read in full, as follows: February 5, 1946. lonorable -:ayor and City Council City of Port T •valsend. Gentlemen: This is to inform you that the work. contemplated under Ordinance Ao. 1180, has been completed according to plans and specifications adopted thereunder. I recommend that this date, February 5th, be the date fixed bythe City Council as the acceptance of the job. The fifteen per cent retained under the jaw should be considered from today forward.
