It was moved by Councilman Sullivan, and seconded by Councilman Gleason, that the use of the traffic signal at the intersection of hater and Taylor Streets as an alternating stop and go signal be discontinued, and that it be operated as a blinker signal only. Motion carried. ADJOURNLWIIT. There being no further business appearing for connidorntion by the council at this time it wns moved by Councilman Carroll, and seconded by Councilman Sullivan, that the council do now adjourn. The CITY COUNCIL of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, met in regular session this 20th day of November, 1945, at 7:30 o'clock P.M., in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, Mayor Pro-Tem J. I:. Carroll presiding. ROLL CALL. Officers and Membors answering present to roll call ware as follows: City Attorney, J. Daly; City Clerk, C. F. Christian; and Councilmen Goo. F. L;ueller, Ralph H. Steele, H. E. Gleason, A. Benedetto, and J. Li. Carroll. Councilman Dennis Sullivan arrived during the session, and Councilman 'Um. Lammiers Sr. was excused from attendance. IllINUTES OF PREVIOUS SESSION. The minutes of the previous session were read, and it was thereupon moved by Councilman Mueller, and seconded by Councilman Steele, that the minutes be accepted and approved as written. ::otion carried. REPORTS OF OFFICEhS. City Treasurer. The monthly report of the City Treasurer, for the month of October, 1945, was presented and read, and referred to the Committee on Finance and Claims. Sullivan arrives. Councilman Dennis Sullivan arrived during the reading of the 'Treasurer's report and tools his chair. Water Superintendent. The monthly report of the "'later Superintendent, for the month of October, 1945, was presented and read, and referred to the Committee on "'.later and Drainage. The report of the 'L'atar Superlintendent, showing flow of water through main line meters for the six day period ending Nov. 19, 1945, was presented and redd, and ordered filed. COMMUNICATIONS. From Assocn. of wash. Cities. An A.M.A. bulletin, a service of the Assocn. of wash. Cities, was acknowledged received and ordered filed. REQUISITIONS. Lrom Street Dept. A requisition by the Street Dept. for 400 ft. concrete drain tile was presented and rea Requisition granted. It was moved by Councilman Mueller, and seconded by Councilman Sullivan, that the fore- going requisition be granted. ,Motion carried. brom Water Dept., to -wit: To the i„ayor and City Council: Gentlemen: The following Materials end/or Supplies are required for the use of the {later Department: c Permission is requested to turn in Dept. Pickup Truck on new one. S. Lockhart. Requisition granted. It was moved by Councilman Steele, and seconded by Councilmen Benedetto, that the fore- going requisition be granted. Motion carried. UI:FINISHED AND IJE! BUSINESS. Fie: Purchase of Bulldozer. Councilman Mueller introduced the matter of the purchase of a bulldozer for the Street Dept., stating that a requisition for same had been presented at a former session but had been tabled pending receipt of additional information relative to surplus Federal Properties lie added that the purchase of equipment from this source was now considered inadvisable, the the. street denartment was in need of such equipment for loading gravel and other work, and that while cooperation by the county had been very good it would not be wise to depend upon this source of help as needs of the county for use of such equipment could not always be foreseen. Bulldozer purchase authorized. Councilman Mueller moved, and it was seconded by Councilman Benedetto, that the City Street Dept. be authorized to purchase a bulldozer. Following discussion, a roll call vote wastaken, and, all six councilmen predent voting in the affirmative the motion was declared carried. Call for bids ordered. It was moved by Councilman i.iueller that the City call for bids to furnish the Street Dept. with a bulldozer in accordance with specifications to be provided by the City Engineer said bids to be opened at the first regular session in January. This motion was seconded by Councilman Benedetto, and upon roll call vote, all six councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion eras declared carried. he: Cutting trees on Adams Street. Councilman Benedetto brought up the matter of the cutting of trees and brush on Adams Street, as requested in the letter from i;:r. E. C. Seeds and Mrs. J. I'll. Benedetto. Discussion disclosed a difference of opinion among the councilmen, but it was generally agreed that in view of the great amount of such area within the city it was unwise to make FA practise of attempting to eliminate such hazards, but that the work at this location, whit] had been started, should be completed. Iie: 1"alkway across swamp. City Engineer, J. T. Lay, repoi,ted that the work of widening the fill across the swamp was nearly completed, and that,because of the short haul required for the fill material, it had not been necessary to use but little of the money appropriated foil rental of trucks. Be: Civil Service Exam. City Attorney Daly reportod that eight applicants had signified their intention to take the examination to be held by the Civil Service Conm;ission for the purpose of providing for a patrolman fo:• the Police Denart:ment.
