Upon roll call vote all six councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried. Certified Checks Returned It was moved by Councilman Mueller aid seconded by Councilman. Carroll that the certi- fied checks, accompanying the bids of the unsuccessful bidders, be returned therewith. Motion carried. - Re: Plans for Fire Hall Councilman Gleason reported that while in Bremerton, at the regiarl meeting of the Association of Washington Cities, he had been privileged to inspect a recently erected fire hall in a newly developed section of the city; that the plans for this hall had been developed by the Fire Chief of the City of Bremerton, and were available to interested cities and that Fire Chief Lafferty had been so informed and was making request for a copy of such plans. Re: Priority of Projects City Attorney Daly called attention of the Council to the fact that several building projects were being contemplated by the Council, of which the installation of a new street lighting system in the business area and the erection of a new Fire Hall were considered the most important. He asked that for the purpose of clarification, the Council determine as to which of these two projects was to have priority. Following a short discussion, it visa moved by Councilman Gleason and seconded by Councilman Steele that the street lighting program he considered Project No. 1 :with the construction of the Fire Nall falling into position No. 2. Motion carried. OHDINkNCES AND RESOLUTIONS The Council at this time reverted to the order of business, Ordinances and Resolutio: in order that the Street Fund emergency Ordinance ordered earlier in the session might be read for the first rending. Street Fund Emergency Ordinance for Equipment Rental ORDINANCE NO. //I'9 AN ORDINANCE of the City of Port 'Townsend providing for the immediate appropriation of money for the City Street Fund for expenditure during the year 1945 and declaring an emergency. C'HP•.REAS, at the time of the adoption of the official budget for the City Street Department for the year 1945, the cost of aid in the construction of a dirt fill across the swamp as a foot path for pedestrians could not have been foreseen, and !"HiiliEAS, it is now proposed that such work be prosecuted thru State and county aid and that the City provide the use of a truck for the some and that the cost thereof is estimated at the sum of y500.00, therefore, THE CITY COQCIL Of THE CITY OF PORT TUYNSEND DO OhDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Sec. 1. That an emergency requiring the immediate appropriation of money for the City Street Fund be and the same is hereby found and declared to exist, and there be and is hereby appropriated the sum of not to exceed u500.00 for the purposes d 11 0 aforesaid, that is to any, Truck henta.l, and the Yvyor and City Clerk be and hereby 11 _ �rZ-,_V, _ _ _ I 11 UNFINISHED AND NEW BUSINESS - CONTINUED Re: Navy Day Mayor Anderson announced that October 27th had been designated as Navy Day and would, be makred by special observance in this City. A ship was being assigned to this City as a part of the observance and it was his wish that the citizens of the City do all in their power to see that the personnel of the ship of ships, assigned here, enjoy their stay in th City. Mayor Anderson also noted that the Victory Loan Drive was scheduled to begin on October 29th. RECESS It was moved by Councilman Sullivan and seconded by Councilman Steele that the Council recess at this time for a short period. Motion carried. Reconvened and roll call The Council reconvened in regular session at 10:15 o'clock and upon roll call the following officers and members were noted present: Mayor, H. E. Anderson; City Attorney, W. j• Daly; City Clerk, C. F. Christian and Councilmen, Dennis Sullivan, J. M. Carroll, Geo. F. Mueller, Ralph H. Steele, H. E. Gleason and A. Benedetto. ADJOURIlHENT There being no further business before the Council for their consideration at this tim it was moved by Councilman Carroll and seconded by Councilman Steele that the Council do now -adjourn.
