The federal aid airport bill had bean approved by committee and would most likely be
considered by congress in the near future and this locality vies one of those outlined in the
proposed bill for assistance in construction of an airport. It was roughly estimated that
'r the cost of construction, at this location, would be less than ;^,200,000.00. That the provi-
sions of the bill provided for payment by the rederal Uovernment of 50% of the cost and that
the remaining 50% rould likely be divided three -fourths by payment bf the State and one-
fourth payment by the City and County.
The site selected wns at the present time about seventy-five per cent county held
property and it was felt that the value of the property would be considered as a portion
of the city, county contribution. In order to inaugurate proceedings to acquire this object
! ive, it was necessary to get signed petitions requesting the County Cotnrnissioners to call a
I!'r special election for the purpose of presenting the matter to the voters and such petitions
were now in the process of being provided for.
Councilman Steele reported that the consideration of leasing the present ''Station Prafr e"
airport was merely to provide for an emergency landing area until such time as other arrange
ments could be made and that no definite agreement hud been reached relative to leasing this
property.
ij Re: Sidewalk Conditions.
III Councilman Benedetto stated that it was his opinion that propositions fo putting the
sidewalks in good repair,as outlined in the report of the City Engineer, should be followed
nhic
by similiar action at other locations in the business wren as there were various places
were badly in need of such repair. The matter vies discussed briefly but no definite con-
clusion wss reached.
ADJOURNMENT.
There being no further business before the Council for their consideration 6t this time
I it was moved by Councilman Sullivan and seconded by Councilman Benedetto that the Council do
now adjourn. Motion carried.
