AN ORDINANCE of the City of Port Townsend providing for the immediate expenditure of money from the current expense fund of said City during the year 1945, for the purpose of defraying the administrative costs of the Civil Service Commission of said City and declaring an emergency. YJHEREAS, at the time of the adoption of the official budget for the current fund of the City of Port 'Townsend for the year 1945, the administrative expense costs of the Civil Service Commission of said City could not have been foreseen. WHEREAS, it has been now determined that the sum of Two Hundred (;;200.00) is a sum sufficient to defray such costs. NOY:, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT T0781SE1N), DO OFMAIN AS FOLLOWS: ' Section 1. That an emergency is hereby Sbund and declared to exist, requiring I the immediate appropriation of money for the current expense fund of said City to be expended during the year 1945,of the sum of Two Hundred ($200.00) Dollars, apportioned to budget classifications as follows: Salaries and wages 175.00 1� Sundry & Miscellaneous 25.00 Section 2. That the City Clerk of said City be and he is hereby authorized to issue emergency warrants upon the current expense fund of said City, not exceeding the said sum of Two Hundred (ti200.00) Dollars upon the presentation of properly approved vouchers. Section 3. That this ordinance be published once in the Port 'io•+:nsend Leader, to be in force and take effect five (5) days from and after the date of such publica- tion. S Ordinance Providing for Relief and Compensation for Volunteer Firemen A proposed ordinance providing for relief and compensation of Volunteer Firemen injured in the line of duty and adopting provisions of Chapter 251 of the laws of Ytashington, 1945, x was presented and read in full at this time for the first reading as follows: ORDINANCE 140. P'' AN ORDINANCE of the City of Port Townsend providing for the relief and compensation of the volunteer fireman of said city injured in the performance of=;;{', their duties; limiting the membership in the Port TowBend Volunteer Fire Department; creating a .,oard of Trustees to administer this ordinance and adopting the provisions of Chapter 261 of the laws of Washington, 1945, insofar as the same pertain to relief and compenso- . tion only. " THE CITY CUNCIL 0: THE CITY OF POET TOTIISEND DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. There is hereby created and established a Board of 'Truutees Y for the administration of this ordinance. Such hoard shall consist of the r Mayor, City Clerk, Chairman of the Fire and Light Committee of the City Council, r " { } ,t r ,,; Fire Chief and one (1) member of the Volunteer Fire Department to be elected by the members of such Volunteer Fire Department for a term of One (1) year and w annually thereafter. r. ATTEST: City Clerk Mayor Steele Arrives. Councilman Steele arrived during the reading of the foregoing proposed ordinance and assumed his proper chair in the council. It was moved by Councilman L,ueller and seconded by Councilman Gleason that the first reading be considered as the second reading and that the third reading be by title only. Upon roll call vote, all five councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried. Third reading and passage. The foregoing proposed ordinance Was read by title only for the third reading and it was thereupon moved by Councilman Gleason and seconded by Councilman Steele that the Ordi. do now, pass. Upon roll call vote, all five councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried. UNFINISHED AND NEW BUSINESS. Re: Budget Items A discussion was held at this time relative to any items which it might be well to include in the Mayor's preliminary budget,which should be placed on file and be available Ito the public upon Monday next. Proper notice was taken and record made of those items which were considered advisable to place in said preliminary budget. ADJOURNMENT.
