Gentlemen: Permission is requested to make alterations to the dwelling situated on Lots 6 & B, Block 59, Original Townsite; at an estimated cost of 4800.00 for materials. It just appears to me that Sir. Arey, our Acting Street Superintendent, should be instructed to work out an answerable plan and apportion the cost thereof on a front foot basis. A. Bersietto Councilman - Fourth ti'iard Councilman Mueller stated that in his opinion such matters were the responsibility of the property owner and the City had no jurisdiction in the matter of apportioning costs. Schwilke, to -wit: Port Townsend, 'Nashington B/29/45 Dear Sirs: It has been told us business men of Port Townsend that 2 hr. parking is going to be inforced. I for- one do not approve of this law. I think it will hamper new businesses and slow up those that are already started. As for my business 1 need all the parking room 1 can get sometimes. This law was not in use during "war" why have it in use in peace. I remain yours truly for a better City. John h. Scbvrilke This matter visa referred to the committee on Police and License. Washington hews Letters, a service of the Assocn. of %'.'ashington Uities, was acknowledged received and ordered filed for reference in the office of the city clerk. i%1 ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS. Re: Volunteer Firemen's Relief and Pension Fund Ordinance It was moved by Councilman Gleason and seconded by Councilman Sullivan that the Ordin- ance providing for a Volunteer Fireman's Relief and Pension Fund, which was presented and read in full for the first reading at the last regular session, be tabled until after such time as the Volunteer Firemen held their next regular monthly meeting. Motion carried. UNFINISRED AND NEW BUSINESS. Re: Grader Bids Councilman Mueller reported that he had talked with other members of the council and the superintendent and employees of the Street Department and it was his opinion, based upon information received that the city would keep the present equipment in service with such repairs as might be necessary from time to time. Bids rejected Councilman i.'ueller moved to reject all bids. to provide the city with a motor grader which bids had been received, opened and read at the last regular session of the council, This motion was seconded by Councilman Gleason and upon call for a voice vote, vise declared carried. Re: Ft. Worden and Ft. Flagler grater Contracts. The City Clerk presented proffered contracts for, the furnishing,by the City,of water services to Ft. 14orden and Ft. Flagler. These contracts had been reported received at an earlier session but had been held over to provide for correction of an apparent error in rates shown. The City Clerk reported that correction had been made and that the rates now correspond to those shown on the existing contracts. Contracts Accepted. It was moved by Councilman Steele and seconded by Councilman Gleason that the contracts offered be accepted and that the Iayor and City Ulerk be authorized to execute said contract: for the city. Motion carried. Re: Preliminary Budget. The matter of the completion of the preliminary budget for the year 1946 was briefly discussed and it visa the concensus of opinion that the council might well give it some consideration as a body prior to the filing of' the Msyor^s preliminary budget. ADJOURNMENT. It was moved by Councilman I,ueller and seconded by Councilman Benedetto that the counci: do now adjourn and do again meet in regular session upon Tuesday the llth day of September, 1945. The CITY COU14CIL of the City of Port Townsend, 1iashington, met in regular session this llth day of September, 1945, at 7:30 o'clock P.M., in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, Mayor h. E. Anderson presiding. ROLL CALL. Officers and ;Members answering present to Roll Call were as follows: Liayor, H. E. Anderson; City Attorney, W. J. Daly; City Clerk, C. F. Christian; and Councilmen, Geo. F. Mueller, H. E. Gleason, A. Benedetto and Dennis Sullivan. Councilman Ralph H. Steele arriving during the session. Councilmen Wm. Lammers, Sr, and J. I.
