Inspections made of the City of Port Townsend water line indicate that the

section of untreated wood stave pipe approximately between Stations

for a distance of about 1400 feet, is in very bad shape and should

This particular section of line is the first piece of untreated wood stave

We would be pleased if you will arrange to have this piece of line replaced

Mayor Anderson reported that this matter had been brought to his attention, and that he
had requested Mr. Paul T. Poulson, Engineer employed for pipe line replacement under present
++c t contract, to make an inspection and report upon the matter outlined in the foregoing letter.
The report of Mr. Poulsen was presented and read, as follows:

rep m t to your honorable body the conditions of the pipe, I submit the following:
On August loth 2 went over this line with Mr. Bukoski and Mr. Schaffer,

were buldging between bands, which could be expected to let go at any time. I am

as soon as possible with treated continuous wood stave pipe of the same size.

A form of ordinance, together with letter of transmission from the City Attorney, were
presented and read, in full, as follows:

Gentlemen:
The bond providing for compensation to any injured volunteer fireman of the City of
Port Townsend having expired, or about to expire, I transmit herewith copy of proposed
Ordinance to stand in lieu thereof.
In view of the fact that the features of the Volunteer Firemen's Belief and Pension
x'I ` Fund is quite complex, some deliberation should be had by the Council before this
proposed Ordinance is adopted.

ORDINANCE NO.
• AN ORDINANCE relating to and creating a fund of the City of Port Townsend to be known
as The Volunteer Firemen's Relief and Pension Fiend; providing for the relief and
compensation of volunteer firemen injured in the performance of their duties, and
dr , adopting all the provisions of Chapter 261 of the Laws of Washington, 1945, by
reference.

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
H vs ji, Section 1. That all of the provisions of Chapter 261 of the Laws of Washington
enacted in the year 1945 be and hereby are re-enacted and made a part of this ordinance
by reference.
Section 2. That there
be and hereby is created s fund of said city to be known
1w, rl: as The Volunteer Firemen's Relief and Pension Fund, to be created, administered and
maintained as in said Chapter 261 aforesaid.
Section 3. That this ordinance be published once in the Port Townsend Leader,

to be in force and take effect from and after five (5) days from the date of said
publication. _
