I 'I { UNFINISHED AND NEVI BUSINESS. Re; Money Boards. i Councilman Sullivan stated that the "money boards" which had been discussed at the last jsession of the council were still in operation in the city, and he felt that steps should be ptaken to have them removed. Councilman Carroll stated that he would make it his business to makelthe rounds with the Chief of Police in the next forenoon and personally see that all such boards were removed. Re: Damage to Hiway Guard Rai&. It was moved by Councilman Mueller that the Street Superintendent prepare, and file, a claim against "Tookeris Motor Freight" for cost of repairs to damaged guard rail, etc., on the highway at the foot of the hil}ron the westerly side of the "swamp", caused by one of their trucks on June 5, 1945. This motion was seconded by Councilman Gleason, and carried by voice vote of the members present. Re: Garbage Dept. complaints. Councilman Sullivan stated that there were numerous practices of householders in prepar- ing garbage and rubbish for collection which were objectionable to the collectors, and invited members of the department who were present to state their objections before the council. Joe Enos, employee of the department, enumerated several of the more coaunon practices which were considered the worst; including use of fifty (50) gallon oil drums for garbage cans, filling of cans with stones and such, unconfined refuse piled loosely next to cans for collection, use of unsound, leaky cans, and failure to keep cans properly cleaned. He spoke also of the problem of the occasional failure to set out cans where this is normally done, and the subsequent complaint of non -collection, and resulting extra call. These points were generally discussed by members of the council, and parts of the ord- inance covering debated items were read by the city attorney; but no concrete action was taken by the body. Re: City Hail Roof repairs. Councilman Gleason brought up the matter of the urgent need for repairs to the roof of the City Hall building; and after short discussion the building committee was instructed to have a competent inspection made and an estimate of cost prepared for presentation at the next regular session. ADJOURIIMNT. j There being no further business before the council for their consideration at this time, j it was moved by Councilman Gleason, and seconded by Councilman Steele, that the Council do now adjourn.
