Gentlemen: Permission is requested to re -shingle the roof of my dwelling situated at the Corner of Foster and -adison Streets, at an estimated cost of approximately One Hundred Dollars (W�100.00) for materials. Gentlemen: - permission is hereby requested for the erection of a structure at the foot of Tyler Street, in the City of Fort Townsend, Jefferson County, Z'sshington. The proposed structure would be approximately 151 In width and 201 in length and would be attached to the Safeway )3uilding and would be erected for the purpose of unloading merchandise. This structure necessarily would be on platted sidewalk space. Actually, there is no sidewalk there at the present time and for all practical purposes, the erection of the structure would not Interfere with the sidewalks or the streets of the City. The proposed addition would be a frame construction and approximately $150.00 would be needed for materials to construct some. Respectfully submitted, tttt Fred E. H. Yuehn A. Be it further resolved that after a permanent location has been approved the Air- port Board acquire the land necessary for the Airport and prepare plans and spec- ifications for construction as a Post 7.ar Project. A short discussion followed the reading of this cornunication; with City Engineer J. T. Lay, who is acquainted with the various factors to be considered, answering questions and informing those present of the reasons for selecting the proposed location which was described as being west of the State highway in the vicinity of what is commonly known as "the Coyne Ranch". It visa moved by Councilman Gleason, and seconded by Councilman Steele, that two (2) members of the City Council be appointed to act as a committee to meet with representatives of other agencies concerned, and report back at a later meeting. notion carried. Yayor Anderson stated that he, at this time, apnointed the councilmen who made and seconded the foregoing motion to serve as the committee provided for in the motion. From Assocn. of Bash. Cities. MIFINISHED AND NY.'.' BUSIKESS. Aerial Ladder Bid accepted. Councilman Gleason stated that he believed that sufficient information had been secured upon the auestions raised at the tire the bids for an aerial ladder truck had been opened at the last regular session; and moved that the bid of Howard- Cooper Corp., as read at said time, be accepted. This motion was seconded by Councilman "Ueller, and upon roll call vote, Councilmen Yueller, Steele, Gleason, Benedetto, and Carroll voted in the affirmative and Councilman Sullivan voted in the negative, and motion was declared carried. Re: Police Dept. hours. Councilman Benedetto stated that under the present schedule of hours of the Police Department there is a period of two or three hours In the morning during which no officer is on duty, and recommended that a change be made to provide for an officer on duty at any hour. M%Yor Anderson stated that he felt the demands upon the department were best known to the Chief of Police .,.,he could therefor arrange the schedule to best suit the needs; and referred the matter to the committee on Police & Licanse"for their consideration. Re:"Yoney Boards". Councilman Sullivan reported that punch boards of the type commonly known as "money boards" were in evidence in various business establishments in the city and asked enforce - rent of the ordinance prohibiting such boards. Councilman Steele concurred in the opinion on this point, and the :.'.ayor referred the matter to the Police and License Committee. Re: Publicity for "Clean -Up". City Attorney Daly gave it as his opinion that advance publicity upon the city "clean- up program" had been greatly insufficient, and reported that "dodgers" had been secured and distributed, some Being placed with each newspaper delivered, to properly inform the public. He stated that the response had been excellent, and that he felt that the city would present a very good appearance for Rhododendron Day. ,. . Fiertz, representing the Leader, local newspaper, advised the:council that this week's edition would carry a good "spread" on the program, including a first page "banner". Councilman Gleason reported that the trucks had been operating steadily, and that the pich-up had been quite thorough throughout the city. Fire Chief J. J. Lafferty inquired as to the possibility of cleaning out the berry bushes on the downtown vacant lots; stating that in view of the difficulty of hiring labor for such work, it might be advisable for the city to perform the work and make a charge against the property, inasmuch as the said bushes constitute a fire hazard and rat harbor, as -.,.,ell as being unsightly. This matter was left to the discretion of those in charge of the clean up to make such provision as considered advisable, within the limit of the amount alloted for such purposes.
