E. Anderson presiding. ROLL CALL Officers and members noted present upon roll call .,.,ere as followws: Mayor, H. E. Anderson; City Attorney, J. Daly; City Clerk, C. F. Christian; and Councilmen Ralph N. Steele, 11. E. Gleason, %7M. Lammers Sr., A Benedetto, Dennis Sullivan, J. M. Carroll, and G. F. LMuelier. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS SESSION The minutes of the previous session were read, and approved upon correction of Councilman Steele's middle initial. REPORTS OF Oi'F•ICYhS City Attorney A written report of the City Attorney, relative to the coating proposed for the •water line replacement pipe was read, as follows: Honorable Mayor and City Council City of Fort Townsend, %%ashington Gentlemen: Concerning the matter of the letting of contract for water replace- ments as advertised and opened at last council meeting, I am nov: informed by :Cr. Pai 1 Poulsen and bir. E. Ci. Erickson, that neither are now: satis- fied as to the "chocolate-conted" steel pipe as settled by the bid of The Steel Pipe and Tank Company of Portland and it might probably be better to withhold formal letting until the lessee and the city cnn ad- just themselves between creosoted continuous wood stave and "gold plated" stew_ pipe. Very truly yours, ... J. Daly, City Attorney Councilman Steele sugrestec that it be determined definitely, what the objections of the lessee were to the proposed costing. '.:ayor Anderson stated that he felt thnt the matter of responsibility foz• the cost, over and nbove the amount provided in the ten year lease, should be determined and made a matte:• of record. It was moved by Councilman Yuciler, and seconded by Councilman Sullivan, that the City Clerk write the lessee corporation, asking a clarification of this point. Some discussion ran held on this question, and Councilman Carroll suggested that the City Attorney, rather then the C'_ty Clerk, write the letter in question, but upon termination of the discussion the oriM,inal motion was carried by vote of the members present. The report of the Water Supt., showing flow of water through main line meters erns read and referred to the committee on Crater and Drainage. REPORTS OF STANDI11G COMI:ITTEF.S 'rater & Drainage Councilman Steele reported for the water committee that the site of the proposed extension to Chimacum had been investigated, and that the committee recommended that the four inch line be extended to the "corners" and two inch lines from that point; southerly to Eldridge Dairy, easterly to the cemetery, and northerly for approximately 1000 feet. It was moved by Councilman Carroll, and seconded by Councilman Sullivan, that the report of the water committee be accepted. Councilman Lammers asked that the Cleric read that portion of the modification of lease pertaining to the area to be served and the amount of water allowed the Hadlock-Irondale line; and the Clerk having read the requested terms of lease, the motion was put to a vote and was carried. BUILDING PERMITS Requests for building permits were read, as follows: Port Townsend, flash. February 20, 1945 Honorable Mayor and City Council Port Townsend, Washington ,. Gentlemen: Permission is requested to renew the front porch of the dwelling situate 744 Fillmere Street; at an estimated cost of approximately ;;100.00 for materials. February 16, 1945 Honorable Mayor and City Council Port Townsend, 'Washington Gentlemen: Permission is requested to repair, and to build an addition 24' x 14' to, the bathhouse at City Auto Courts; at an estimated cost of approximately k750.00 for materials. Van Valkenburg requesting reconsideration of his request for a vacation of property was read, as follows: 4th & Hancock Port Townsend, :lash. February 19, 1945 To the Mayor and City Council Port Townsend, C:ashington Gentlemen: Gill you kindly reconsider your decision on my recent request to you on vacating my property on Dundee Hill.
