Chimacum, together with the accompanying statement signed by residents of the vicinity, was

for the pipe as an expression fo cooperation and sincerity. Also

we, the undersigned citizens of the Chimacum Community, agree to
take the Port Townsend venter •.,.,hen it is piped to the community. C:e
further agree to subscribe to amount set after our name as the part
vie will pay to help the city of Port Townsend defray the expense of
laying the pipe line to the covununity. Wo further agree that in the
event of an epidemic tie will in no way, financially or otherwise,
blame the city of Port Townsend for the epidemic and will expect no
compensation from the City.

Councilman Steele stated that the ':rater Committee recommended the -metering of all
services upon the proposed line in the event that it was approved.
It vies moved by Councilman Carroll, and seconded by Councilman Gleason, that the
petition for the 'anter line extension be granted.
A discussion relative to various factors to be considered, ensued. Attorney Daly
apply
inquired as to whether the cash amounts offered v:ere intended to p- y against water
rents if' service vies established, and was assured by Mr. Shelby that they were not. Other
points considered :acre the limitation as to gallonage nor imposed upon this line, and the
location and point of termination of the proposed extension.
Extension Authorized
A roll call vote was taken upon the foregoing motion by Councilman Carroll; with
Councilman I.:ueller, Steele, Gleason, Benedetto, Sullivan, and Carroll voting in the
affirmative, and Councilman Lammers voting in the negative and the motion was declared
carried.
Councilman Carroll moved that the 7.`nter ::on:iittcc, together with the :':ater Supt.,
meet with n representative group from Chimacum to determine the routing and terminus
of the extension authorized; and report back to the council at the next session. This
motion was seconded by Councilman Steele, find carried by voice veto of the members present.
Re: hesidual headings
":star Supt. Lockhart inquired as to the pleasure of the Council in th 11,atter of
the employment of sotreon-e to take daily residual readings, as requested by the State
Dept. of Health; stating that it v:as necessary- for the Council to nuthorize such employment.
It was moved by Councilman. Cnrroll that the .*ater Sup'.. be empowered to employ a
person, at a rate of not to exceed ;ti25.00 per month to take the daily* residual reading as
required. "his motion was seconded by Councilman Sullivan; and upon roll call vote, all
seven Councilmen present voted in the cffirrnative and motion was declared carried.

fact that the City's Stove Oil needs ::ere being serviced by a single distributor, Par -
