City Clerk be authorized to
issue warrants
upon
the proper funds in payment thereof. Upon Roll Call Vote, all seven Councilmen present
voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried.

I take this means of calling to your attention and especially
to the attention of the Committee on Streets and Sewers the condition

! off, of the sidewalks in front of the Penny Building, StermQE Block and

the sidewalk in front of the Telephone Company, on ';:ate Street.
I am informed that the owners of the abutting proparty, of
' , nearly all of them, are ready, able and trilling to restore the
condition of these sidewalks to their original status. I could � q
earnestly recommend that the Committee on Streets and S wers report
to the Council us soon as practicable on the possibilit; of ?raving
this matter attended to.

The report of the Committee on Finance and Claims, to whom was referred the matter of
the Treasurer's report for the month of December, 1945,-teas read and ordered filed.

of the 'later Sup:rintendent's report for the month of December, 1945, was read and
ordered filed.

A report from the Committee on Building and Miscellaneous, was presented and read
as follows:

Gentlemen,
Your Committee, on Building & Miscellaneous, to whom was re-
ferrod the matter of the application of E. A. Plitheridge,tomove
a building in the First Fire Zone to another location in the
same zone, would respectfully report as follows:
That Ordinance No. 815 prohibits such action, and the commit-
tee cannot ttherefor recommend that the permission requested, be
granted.

Request Denied
Councilman Lammers asked for a reading of the original application of E. A. Witberidge
for pxrr•.icsion to grove a building in the first fire zone, which application had been
referred to the building comnittdo at the last regular cession; and upon completion of
the re -reading of said application, it was moved by Councilman Lammers, and seconded
by Councilman Gleason that the request be not gs•onted. Motion carried.
Streets and Setters
Councilman dueller reported that the Street Committee had investigated the request
of I.r. J. L. Van Valkenburg for the vacation of certain streets, and that it was the
recommendation of the committee that the request be denied, and the matter tabled.

Water and Drainage

Councilmen Steele reported that a meeting had been held to consider the matter of
the awarding of the, bid for the proposed pipe line replacement; that the alternate bid
of THE STEEL TANK & PIPE CO, was recommended by the committee; and moved that said bid
be accepted.
Councilman Mueller stated that there was some doubt in his mind as to the propriety
of accenting this bid, inasmuch as there had been no opportunity for competetive bidding
upon the basis of the proposed type of pipe to be furnished.
