Andrews, relative to matters pertaining to the repairs and maintenance of the streets in the vicinity of his home, was read and referred to the Committee on Streets and Servers. ORDINA:JCFS AND RESOLUTIONS An Ordinance entitled "An Ordinance of the City of Port 'Townsend providing for the immedinte appropriation of money from the P;ar Liquor Tax Fund of said city for the purpose of nroviding additional contribution toward the construction cost of the proposed Child Care Facility within said city and declaring an emergency," which was read in full for the first reading, at the last regular session, and is incorporated in the minutes thereof, was rend in full, for the second reading, at this time. It was moved by Councilman Lanuners nnc seconded by Councilman Carroll, that the third reading be by title only. Upon roll call vote, all five Councilmen present, voted in the nffirrintive, and motion was declared carried. Third Reading and Passage The proposed Ordinance v:as read by title only for the third reading, and it was thereupon moved by Councilman Brown and seconded by Councilman Carroll, that the Ordinance do now pass. Uppn roll call vote, all five Councilmen present, voted in the affirmative, and notion was declared carried. UNFINISHED AND IIE;' BUSINESS L:r, Lay Introduced _ Llayor Anderson introduced to those present, L:r. John T. Lay, who had been appointed Jefferson County Engineer. Lay spoke briefly, saying that, as yet, he was just getting acquainted with matters pertaining to his office, and that he had enjoyed attending this session of the Council. Library Board Appointed I,:ayor Anderson announced receipt of a letter from the Library Board, which was read as follows: , December 5, 1944 Honorable L:ayor, City of Port Townsend, Port Townsend, 'flashington Dear Sir: The Library Board mould like to recoimnend the name of Ilrs. Beverly Smith as a Library Board member to fill the unexpired term of Lars. W. M. McCurdy vrho has resigned because of ill health. Yours truly, Library Board By Anvnands Herstram Secretary The L:ayor stated that he would be happy to make the appointment as recommended in the foregoig letter. Gasoline Bids Called it was moved by Councilman Brown and seconded by Councilman Lammers, that the City Clerk be instructed to issue a call for bids, to furnish the various departments of the City vrith Gasoline during the year 1945, said bids to be read at the next ref;ular session. :,:otion carried. Police Car Repairs Authorized Councilman Carroll reported that flu had been informed by the Chief of Police, that the Chevrolet car used by that department , was in need of a new motor and clutch assembly, and that the estimnted cost of such, vras approxir,ately $125.00. This motion ;:cs seconded by Councilman l.:ueller, and upon roll call vote, all five Councilren present voted in the affirmative, and motion was declared carried. BILLS AND CLAI:,:S It visa moved by Councilman Brown and seconded by Councilman Mueller, that the rules of the Council as affecting the payment of claims be suspended, to allow consideration of the claims of the election officials, for employment at the city election, held on December 5th, 1944, and that the said claims be allowed and' -ordered paid. Upon roll call vote, all five Councilmen present voted in the affirmative, and motion was de- clared carried.
