City Council
Port Townsend, 7:ash.
Gentlemen:
I recently purchased property between 7th and 8th Street, and Gise
Street and the Olympic Highway. I wondered if there was any possible
chance of getting 7th Street opened between Gise Street and the Highway.
(Approximately two blocks.) The right-of-way is cleared except for
small brush and far., loose rocks.
We vrould like to make some improvement to the place but are
unable to, due to the present entrance to the property. Ylould appre-
ciate your consideration on this matter.
Very truly yours,
R. F. Grant
This matter was referred to the Committee on Streets and Sewers.

Gentlemen:
The Library Board again calls your attention to the condition
of the gutters of the library building. It is leaking very badly
and should be attended to at once.
This matter was brought to your attention at the last Council
meeting, but nothing has been done.
Yours truly,
Amanda Herstrom
Secretary, Library Board
The City Attorney stated that the Library Board has complete jurisdiction in such
matters, with power to have the work done by whatever means available. No further

Deer Liayor Anderson:
Zte are over -run at 'Fort 7.'orden by stray dogs, a large pro-
portion of which appear to come in the Post from the outside, make
friends with the soldiers, hang ar•ouc,d the messes ar.d become a con-
sidertbie nuisance. If they are turned loose outside the Post, they
promptly find their stay back again, where they have been well shel-
tered and well fed.
I understand that you have no SPCA in Port Townsend, but I
wonder if there is not some way in which the City can nick up
straydogs that are not licensed, either in Port Townsend, or at
sort Worden, who would otherwise find their :'ay to Fort :Gorden, and
dispose of these dogs before they join the Army.
I would appreciate any assistance you can give.
Yours sincerely,
James H. Cunningham
Brigadier General, USA
Commanding
This matter tas discussed briefly, but no definite action taken.
