City Attorney "aly took this occasion to remind the Council of the regional meeting
of the Association of Washington Cities, which had been tentatively set to be held in
the City of Port Townsend, upon November 8th. He stuted that a request had been made
for the use of the Elk's LodCo Room, in which to hold the meeting. That he felt there
was no doubt but that this permission would be Civen, and that each and every one of
the City Officials and rembers, should make a genuine effort to be present at this
session, and conduct the: handling of it in such a way, as to create the most favorable
Impression possible, inasmuch as there would be officials from other cities, who would
be vitally interested in all :natters pertaining to municipal government.

MINUTES OF THE REGULAR SESSION OF THE CITY COUNCIL, NOVEMBER 7, 1944
Jefferson County Claim
The claim of the Jefferson County Department of highways, in payment of the Bitumi-
nous Surfacing of certain city streets, and Pre -Mix for patching use, was considered
separately, at this time, inasmuch as some of the Councilmen, did not feel that the
quality of the work done, was comparable to like work, done in past years. After a short
discussion, it was moved by Councilman Brown, that payment be made for the item of
Pre -Mix, which had been stock piled, to use for patching nuvposes. This motion was
seconded by Councilman Carroll, and upon roll call vote, all seven Councilmen present,
voted in the affirmative, and motion was declared carried.
Further discussion of the bill for Seal-Coting and New Surfacing, ensued, but it
was finally determinded, that the work had been completed and accepted, and therefore,
constituted a legal claim, but that closer supervision should be given on such matters
in the future, and it was thereupon moved by Councilman Carroll, that the said claim for
Surfacing, be approved and ordered paid in the usual manner. Upon roll call vote, all
seven Councilmen present, voted in the affirmative, and motion was declared carried.
Other Claims
The Claim of Paul T. Poulsen, in the sum of $144.42, for wages and expenses; the claim
of Ann C. Pfizenmaier, in the sum of 112.00, for stenographic services, and the claim of
Olympic Stationers, in the sum of y17.77, for supplies, all of which were costfn connectio
with the replacement of portions of .the main water supply line, were presented separately
at this time, and it was moved by Councilman Brown and seconded by Councilman Carroll,
that said claims be authorized, and paid from such funds as hereinafter provided. Upon
roll call vote, all seven Councilmen present, voted in the affirmative, and motion was
declared carried.
