'Rater Fund Budget
An ordinance fixing and adopting a budget for the rater Department for the ,year 1944
was presented and read in full for the first reading as follows:
ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE fixing and adopting a budget for the Pater Department of the City of Port
Townsend for the year 1944.
THE. CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOV:itSEND DC ORDAIN AS FOLLO":S:
Section 1. That the following be, and the same is hereby fixed and adopted as the
official budget for the 'eater Department of the City of Port 'Townsend, for the year 1944,
divided into the total amounts in each of the following classes comprising the whole of
said budget, to -wit:
Salaries and V:ages $ 8,650.00
Operation and :,:aintenances $ 8,425.00
Capital Outlay & 21,665.00
Cumulative Reserve 'rand $ 10,000.00
Interest and Bond Redemption $ 46,900.00
Section 2. That this ordinance be published once in the Port Townsend Leader, and to
be in force and take effect as provided by law.
PASSED by the City Council October , 1944.
APPROVED by the Kayor October , 1944.

It was moved by Councilman Larm.;ers and seconded by Councilman Sullivan that the first
reading be considered as the second reading and that the third reading be by title only.
Upon roll -call vote, all five Councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion was
declared carried.
Third Reading and Passage
The proposed Water Fund Budget ordinance was read by title only for the third reading
whereupon it ::as moved by Gouncilman Lammers and seconded by Councilman Sullivan that the
ordinance do now pass. All five Councilmen present voted in the affirmative upon roll -call
and notion was declared carried.
Tax Levy Ordinance
An ordinance making and firing the tax levy for "taxes for the year 1944 ::as presented
and read in full at this time for the first reading as follows:
ORDINANCE NO.
AN =13NANCE making and firing the tax levy for the City of Port Townsend for taxes for
the year 1944.
THE CIi_ COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ?OIiT TOV:NSE+D DOORDAIN AS FOLLOV:S:
Section 1. That there is hereby levied upon all the taxable property in the City of
Port Townsend, Vlashington, the following sums of money and rates of tax levy for the
different purposes herein designated, for the year 1944, and the rate of taxation upon the
dollar of assessed valuation of said Cite for such purposes is as follows:
11 First: For the payment of current expenses and for the Current Expense Fund, the sum
of $8,953.33, and the rate of tax levy for said fund is hereby fixed at 9_00 mills on the
dollar.
Second: For the purpose of maintaining a public library and for the Library fund, the
sum of $2,981.11, and the rate of tax levy for said purpose is hereby fired at 3.00 ni:.ls
on the dollar.
Third: For the purpose of maintaining a public park and for the Park Fund, the sum of
$1,490.55, and the rate of tax levy is hereby fixed at 1.50 mills on the dollar.
Fourth: For the maintenance and improvement of the public streets of the City, and
for the City Street 'rural, the sum of $1,490.55, and the rate of tax levy for said purpose
is hereby fixed at 1.50 mills on the do- ar.
Fifth: F'or the payment of interest on bonds and for bond redemption 1911 Refund Bonds
and Interest Fund, the sum of $5,962.22, and the rate of tax levy for said purpose is hereby
fired at 6_00 mills on the dollar.
Sixth: For the payment of interest on bonds and for bond redemption, General Indebted-
ness 1931 Water Bond and Interest Fund, the sun of $993.70, and the rate of tax levy for
said purpose is hereby fixed at 1.00 mills on the dollar.—

Tax Levy Ordinance, continued:'
Seventh: For the payment of indebtedness of the City of Port Townsend known as the
"Indebtedness Fund", the sum of u7,949.62, and the rate of tax levy for said purpose is
hereby fixed at 8_00 mills on the o ar. i F+
Section 2. That the L:ayor and City Clerk of said City are hereby authorized and
directed to certify to the County Auditor and to the County Assessor of Jefferson County,
Washington, the foregoing tax levy of said city.
Section 3. That this ordinance be published once in the Port Townsend Leader to be
in force and take effect as provided by law.
PASSED by the City Council October , 1943.

It was moved by Councilman Yaroldo and seconded by Councilman Carroll that the first i
reading be considered as the second reading and that the third reading be by title only.

The proposed Levy Ordinance was read by title only for the third reeding and upon
completion thereof it was moved by Councilman Maroldo that the ordinance do now pass.
This motion was seconded by Councilman Carroll and, upon roll -call vote, all five Councilmen
present voted in the affirmative and motion visa declared carried.

A brief, informal, general discussion upon various subjects was indulged in at this
time by members of the Council with considerable attention being given to the matter of
suspending enforcement of the 2-hour parking law but no direct action was taken upon any
subject which would require incorporation in the minutes.
ADJOURNKEDT
,;a further business appearing for consideration of the Council at this time, it was
moved by Councilman Sullivan and seconded by Councilman tiaroldo that the Council do now
adjourn.' Notion carried.
