Port Townsend, Sloshington May 18, 1943 The City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Slashington met in regular session this lath day of May, 1943, at 7:30 o'clock P. M. in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, Mayor H. E. Anderson presiding. ROLL CALL Officers and members nnsaering present to roll call were ss follows: Mayor H. E. Anderson; City Attorney, W. J. Daly; City Clerk, C. F. Christian; and Councilmen Robert W. Brown, Pulliam Lammers, Sr., Dennis Sullivan, J. M. Carroll, G. F. Mueller, and J. F. Maroldo. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS SESSION It wins moved by Councilman Carroll and seconded by Councilman Brown that the minutes of the previous session be approved as written. Lotion carried. REPORTS OF OFFICERS City Attorney City Attorney 77. J. Daly reported verbally upon the attendance of Mayor Anderson, City Clerk Christian, Councilman Sullivan, ;later Superintendent Lockhart, and the speaker at the annual state-wide meeting of the Association of 1.7ashington Cities held in the City of 71'enatchee or. May 13th and 14th. He stated that the meetings were very informative and constructive and very well attended, there being approximately 60% of the cities of the state represented at the meeting. Sir. Daly briefly outlined the matters discussed at the panel session for City Attorneys and explained the reasons for adoption of ordinances relative to monies provided for the cities at the last session of the legislature, which ordinances would be presented under the order of business at this session. Admission Tax Receipts Allocated It was moved by Councilman Brown that the monies to be received by reason of the or- dinance providing for a tax upon admissions within this city, which ordinance was passed by the Council at the regular session of April 20, 1943, be allocated to the maintenance, construction, etc., of city streets, and placed upon receipt in the City Street Fund. This motion v.-as seconded by Councilman b.aroldo and passed by voice vote of the members present. kemort of City Treasurer The monthly report of the City Treasurer for the month of April, 1943, was presented and read and referred to the Committee on Finance and Claims. Slater Superintendent The monthly report of the Plater Superintendent for the month of April, 1943, visa presented and read and referred to the Oommittee on Slater and Drainage. The report of the Stater Superintendent shorting flow of water through main. -line meters was presented and read and referred to the Committee on Sister and Drainage. BUILDING P1-227;:dITS Requests for pernission to build and to make alterations, repairs, and additions were presented and read as follows: From Elmer Dale. to -wit: Port Townsend, "7ashington May 10, 1943 Honorable yayor and City Council Port Townsend, 71'ashington Gentlemen: Permission is requested to make an addition, 19' x 141, to my dwelling situate 12th and Sheridan; at an estimated cost of approximately $70.00 for materials. Johnson u 11 e1 LA Permits Granted It visa moved by Councilman Sullivan and seconded by Councilman Lammers that permits be granted as requested in the foregoing applications. Motion carried. COLMUNICATIONS From Officer in Charge, Naval Shore Facilities, to -wit: 15 May 1943 Gentlemen: Re: Request for permission to tap City of Port Townsend eater Main The Navy Department has recently authorized for construction by this contract an installation at Old Fort Townsend which will require a small water supply to care for approximately twenty men. No water supply is available at the location; hence, permission is requested to tap the City of Port Townsend water main near Station 1723 plus 97 with a one - inch outlet. If permission is granted, the installation will be made in a manner precluding in- terruption of flow in the main. Any equitable proposal suggested by your office regarding payment to be made for crater received will receive the prompt attention of this office. Reese By direction cc: Mr. Stober cc: Mr. Hartzell Application Approved It was moved by Councilman Brown that the City Clerk draw a letter of reply express- ing the approval of the City Council of the City of Port Townsend, 7ashington, of making such a tap as requested, provided such tapping meet with the approval of the Crown Zeller- bach Corporation, lessee of that portion of the main water line lying outside the cor- porate limits of the City of Port Townsend, and further stating that rates to be charged for water be the same as those in effect in other governmental agencies. This motion was seconded by Councilman Carroll, and upon voice vote visa declared carried. 1
