HomeMy WebLinkAbout00192 MINUTES OF PREVIOUS SESSION (25)Re: Seal for Housing Authority Councilman Mueller stated that he had received a request from the Housing Authority as appointed by the Mayor that the City provide funds to purchase an official seal for said Authority, and thereupon moved that the City allow not to exceed $10.00 for the pur- chase of such a seal. This motion was seconded by Councilman Brown and u-3on roll -call vote, all five Councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried. Re: Purchase of Govt. Bonds Mr. H. J. Carroll being present in the Council Chambers and having signified a desire to speak before the mortars present was invited by the Mayor to address the Council at this time. Mr. Carroll spoke of the .Yar Loan Drive now being carried on throughout the City and suggested that City funds not currently needed be invested in United States . Government bonds. After a short discussion, it was moved by Councilman Carroll and second- ed by Councilman Buse that the City Treasurer be authorized to invest City funds in nego- tiable Government Bonds, Discussion of this motion disclosed the need of additional in- formation upon the matter and the motion was withdrawn with permission of the second. After further general discussion, it was moved by Councilman Carroll that the Finance Committee of the Council together with the City Attorney be appointed as a Committee to investigate the status of City finances with a view to determining the advisability and legality of investing City funds in United States Government bonds, said committee to have full authority to designate funds for investment in such securities. This motion was seconded by Councilman Buse and upon roll -call vote all five Council- men present voted in the affirmative and the motion was declared carried. Sullivan Arrives In the short discussion ensuing at this time prior to adjournment, Councilman Sullivan arrived in the Council Chambers and was noted present. ADJOURUMENT There being at this time no further business before the Council for their consideratio it was moved by Councilman Carroll and seconded by Councilman Brown that the Cs:ncil do now adjourn.
