Dear Mayor Anderson:
As this office proposes to lease the old cannery building located in Block
16e of the B. L. Hastings Second Addition to the City of Port Townsend, begin-
ning September 1, 19,12, it is desired to obtain from the City the gasoline
pump contained therein.
It is requested therefore that you confer with the City Council, and if
it is possible, submit a price on the gasoline pump, including the whole unit
complete, to this office.

It was moved by councilman Sullivan and seconded by councilmen Llaroldo that the fore-
going application be approved and that the said equipment be sold for the sum of $75.00.
Upon roll call vote, all four councilmen present voted inthc affirmative and motion pas
declared carried.

THE MATTER OF THE VACATION OF PARTS
OF CERTAIN STREETS,
THE U11ITED STATE OF AIr.RICA; UIJIGIZ OIL COMPANY OF CALIFORIIIA, a Corporation;
and PUGET SOUND PILTOTS' ASSGCIATION having filed with the City Council of the City
! of Port Townsend :'tashington a petition requesting the vacation of parts of certain
streets within said City, to -wit:
That portion of Jackson Street, from the southerly line
of Jefferson Street to Front Street; and that portion of
Washington Street, from the center line common to Blocks
45 and 52 of the Original Tornsite of the City of Port
Townsend to the easterly line of Jackson Street; and that
portion of Water Street, lying easte^1r of the easterly
lines of Lot 5, Block 45 extended southerly, and Lot 6,
- Block 4 extended northerly, Original Tornsite of the City
11 of Port Townsend to the easterly line of Jackson Street.

That pursuant to a motion duly made, seconded, and passed by the City Council of
the City of Port 'Townsend on the 7th day of July, 1942, the said petition will be
heard at 7:30 o'clock P.M., or as soon thereafter as practicable, on Tuesday, the lath
day of August, 1942, in the Council Chambers of the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend, Jefferson County, Washington; when and where any person or persons may
appear and make exceptions or objections to the proposed vacation,

There being no person or persons present offering any objection to the vacation of
streets as heretofore listed, it was moved by councilman Llaroldo and seconded by councilman

Carroll that the vacation be granted. Motion carried,

Ordinance Providing for Vacation of Streets Aforesaid

A proposed ordinance providing for the vacation of portions of certain streets listed
in the foregoing anlication was presented and read in full at this time for the first read-
ing as follows:
ORDINANCE 140.
AN ORDINANCE of the City of Port Townsend vacating portions
of certain streets in the Original Torrnsite
of the City of Port Townsend, ;7ashington.

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TO'::IISEND DO ORDAIN AS FOLLONS:

Section 1. That, that portion of Jackson Street, from the southerly line of
Jefferson Street to Front Street; and that portion of Washington Street, from the
center line common to Blocks 45 and 52 of the Original Torrnsite of the City of Port

The foregoing ordinance must by law lay over to the next regular session for final

Re: hater Street Sidewalk repair
The unsafe condition of the sidewalk upon the south side of water street adjoining
the property lying between the Carroll Mortuary and With's Sheet and Metal Shop Ties
brought to the attention of the council and after short discussion, it was moved by
councilman 14aroldo and seconded by councilman Carroll that the City Clerk be instructed
to notify the owner of said property to repair said oidewalk. Notion carried.
Re: Mayor's Office
Councilman Sullivan brought before the council the matter of the increased number of
committee meetings and such which were at the present time being held in Mayor Anderson's
private business office and outlined the difficulties of same particularly of sufficient
room and moved that the building committee of the council be authorized to provide such

facilities for the mayor Ia office in the City Hal 1 building as might be necessary to

provide for the holding of such meetings at that place. This motion was seconded by
councilman Carroll and upon voice vote, it was declared carried.
Re: Deferrment of Firemen
City Attorney, Daly reported that he had been informed verbally by Mr. W. W. Arnold,

Clerk -of the Selective Service Board, that in the matter of the City's request for deferr-
ment or reclassification of Mr. Albright and Mr. LaVera, Fire truck drivers for the City,
postponement of induction for the said firemen had been granted for a period of 30 days.
