In view of the present emergency and heavy quotas required from this county, the , board feels an injustice would be done to defer from service, these men without depend- a ents, and then be forced to call from the married classifications, ;7e, therefore, have declined to grant your request for deferment in the above cases. Arnold Clerk of the Board Port Townsend, Wash. August 3, 1942 City Council of Port Townsend, Port Townsend, 17ashington. Gentlemen: It has been brought to our attention that petition has been entered for the closing of that section of Monroe Streetk lying between Water Street and Front Street, as well as the section of Front Street adjoining, in view of leasing same to a private concern. We take this means of protesting any antion of this kind as we are convinced our property rights and privileges would be jeopardized by this move. Our Salmon Club property is actually owned by a representative cross section of the citizens and has always been held open for the benefit of the public and we trust you will seriously consider our protest.
