Re: Salvage Drive
Mayor Anderson reported that the local Salvage committee were planning to make a `
house to house drive for Salvage on Saturday, the 16th of May. It was agreed that
County officials would provide two trucks for the collection of Salvage materials pro-
vided that the city would match this service.
It was moved by councilman Brown and seconded by councilman Sullivan that the city
furnish one truck from the street department and one truck from the garbage department
for the aforementioned purpose. Motion carried.
Re: Taft Street Opening
Mr. T. H. Baker, Jr., present in the council chambers at this time requested a
definite decision, if possible, upon the opening of Taft street between Monroe and
Madison streets as petitioned and discussed at the two preceding sessions.
It was moved by councilman Brown that the report of::the street committee which was
read at the last regular session and upon motion of the council was referred back for
reconsideration be; at this time confirmed by the members present. This motion was
seconded by councilman Cornett. Under discussion of the motion, Councilman Sullivan
asked that it be made the sense of the report that it apply only for the balance of the
Current year. This was unanimously agreed upon and the motion visa carried by voice
vote.
Re: _1942 Surfacing Program
County and City Engineer; W. A. Bugge asked members of the council present for an 1
expression of theirplans as to further surfacing of local streets under present con-
ditions and recommended that if' At all possible those streets which received initial
surfacing last summer should receive the seal coat at this time.
Upon short discussion, it was agreed that the time of the next regular session
would be soon enough for a definite decision and that such a decision would be reached
by that date.
RECESS
It visa moved by councilman Brown and seconded by councilman Carroll that the council
recess at this time (8:35 P.M.) for a short period. Motion carried.
RECONVENED AND ROLL CALL
The City council reconvened in regular session at 9:05 0(clock P.M. and upon Roll
Call the following officers and members were noted present:
Mayor H. E. Anderson, City Attorney, W. J. Daly, City Clerk, C. F. Christian and council-
men Wm. Lammers, Sr., Dennis Sullivan, J. M. Carroll, •11. B. Cornett and Robt. 71. Brown.
Councilman J. F. Maroldo having been excused from further attendance.
Re: Licensing of Cabs
Councilman Carroll stated that the Police Department reported having trouble with
running in of extra cabs (unlicensed) at certain times and moved at this time that the
make and serial number of each cab be entered upon the license certificate issued to
same. This motion was seconded by councilman Brown and carried by voice vote of members 1
present.
ADJOURNMENT
No further business appearing for consideration by the council at this time, it was
moved by councilman Brown and seconded by councilman Carroll that the council do now
adjourn. Motion

The City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington met in regular• session
this 19th day of May, 1942 at 7:30 o1clock P.P.I. in the council chambers of the City Hall,
Mayor H. E. Anderson presiding.
ROIL CALL
Officers and members answering presnt to Roll Call were as follows: Mayor H. E. Ander-
son, City Clerk, C. F. Christian, and councilmen Dennis Sullivan, J. M. Carroll, J. F.
Maroldo and Wm. Lammers, Sr. City Attorney Daly arriving later in the session.
MINUTES OF PREVIOUS SESSION
It visa moved by councilman Maroldo and seconded by councilman Carroll that the

REPORTS OF OFFICERS
City Treasurer
�® The monthly report of the City Treasurer for the month of April, 1942 was presented
and read and referred to the Finance committee.
Water Superintendent
.The monthly report of the Water Superintendent for the month of April, 1942 was pre-
sented and read and referred to the committee on Water and Drainage. The report of the
Water Superintendent showing the flow of water through the main line meters for the week
ending May 18 and the National Paper Products Company meter for the week ending May 16
was presented and read and ordered filed.
BUILDING PERMITS
Requests for permission to build were presented and read as follows:
