The City Council of the city of Port Townsend, Washington met in regular session this
17th day of February, 1942 at.7:30 O'clock P.V. in the council chambers of the City Hall,
Mayor 11. E. Anderson presiding.
ROLL CALL
Officers and members answering present to roll call were as follows:
Mayor H. E. Anderson, City Attorney, W. J. Daly, City Clerk, C. F. Christian and council-
men, Dennis Sullivan, J. M. Carroll, J. F. Maroldo, Robt. W. Brown and %7m. Lammers, Sr.
MINUTES OF PhEVIOUS SESSION
It was moved by councilman Maroldo and seconded by councilman Brown that the minutes
of the previous session he approved as written. Motion carried.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS
City Treasurer
The monthly report of the city Treasurer for the month of January, 1942 was presented
and read and referred to the Finance committee.
Water Superintendent
The monthly report of the Water Gupt. for the month of January, 1942 was presented
and read and referred to the Water committee.
The report of the Water Superintendent showing the flow of water through the main
line meters for the week ending February 16, 1942 and the National Paper Products Company
meter for the week ending February 14, 1942 was presented and read and ordered filed.
Mayor •
Mayor Anderson reported that Mr. C. C. Bartlett acting as spokesman for National Paper
Products Company had requested a meeting between representatives of that company and the
water and drainage committee of the city council.
BUILDING PERMITS
Requests fbr permission to build were presented and read as follows:

Gentlemen: Permission is requested to build a chicken house, 101 x 201, on my
property situate 29th and Hendricks Streets; at an estimated cost of $"50.00 for
materials.

It was moved by councilman Sullivan and seconded by Councilman Maroldo that permission
be granted as requested in the foregoing applications. Motion carried.

From State Department of Highways
The monthly form letter of the Department of Highways of the State of Washington show-
ing this city's allotment of gasoline tax funds to be $B57.50 was presented and read and
ordered filed.

r, As you are aware, we are operating and maintaining a wharf at the foot of
rr., Harrison Street in your City by right of an Ordinance No. 1017 which was passed by
�� the Council and approved by the Mayor on April 22, 1932.
This Ordinance provides for a rental of 50 P � per annum payable -in advance on
the first day of March of each and every year for a period of ten years commencing
March 1, 1932.

We would be pleased if this Ordinance could be kept in force for an additior-rl
& period of ten years under the same provisions contained in the above Ordinance.

pay costs of publishing said Ordinance.

From Association of Washington Cities

is Bulletins of the Association of Washington Cities including one which outlined
Ordinances adopted by various cities relative to matters concerning Nation Defense
problems which visa brought particularly to the attention of the city Attorney were
acknowledged by the City Clerk and .ordered filed for reference.
Street and Garbage Department Appointments Announced
ryj Mayor Anderson announced at this time appointments as follows:
Mr. A. D. Swanson as Superintendent of the Garbage collection service at a monthly salary
of $150.00- Mr. Frank Crutcher as employee in garbage collection service at a monthly
salary of 6135.00 and Mr. Rollie Stahl as Street Superintendent of the city with no change
s in his present salary of $150.00 per month.
ORDINANCES AIM RESOLUTIONS
City Attorney Daly advised the council that in accordance with the recommendation
of the State Examiner made a part of his report upon the last examination of the records
of this city he had drawn a Resolution providing for bonding of the Water Superintendent
® which Resolution was read at this time in full as follows:
R E S O L U T I O N
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend that pursuant to
last report of the State Examiner the Water Superintendent of the City of Port Townsend
!i be required to give bond to said City for the faithful discharge of the duties of his
trust, said bond to be fixed in the penal sum of
ADOPTED by the City Council this 17th day of February 1942.

Resolution Adopted
It was moved by councilman Carroll and seconded by councilman Lammers that the fore-
