It was moved by Councilman Carroll and seconded by Councilman Sullivan that the City Clerk address a letter to Mr. Seabrook Young and Mrs. Jesse Pridiger relative to their communication heretofore entered in the minutes of this meeting, said letter to quote that part of the water ordinance applicable. Motion carried. BILLS AND CLAIMS. It visa moved by Councilman Brown and seconded by Councilman Maroldo that the Council do now revert to the order of business known as "B ills and Claims" in order to cause claims upon the Willow Street Sevier Fund which were not allowed at the time of approval of other claims, namely those of Paul Hinton, Felix W; Darnell and Dyane Clocksin. Maroldo Excused. (rG Upon his request of other business Councilman Maroldo was excused from further attend- ance atthis time. Claims Allowed. It vies moved by Councilman Brown and seconded by Councilman Sullivan that the fore- going claims be allowed at the rate and in the sum as follows: Paul Hinton, Wages Engineer, at $ 8.00 per day ----------- $104.00 Felix W. Darnell, Wages Chairman at $5.50 per day---------- 154.00 Duane Clocksin, Wages Chafnman at $4.00 per day------------ 40.00 I� Upon Roll Call vote all four Councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion declared carried. Brown and 'lilliam La_,r.ers,,Sr. MIDIUTES OF PREVIOUS SESSION. It was moved by Councilman Brown and seconded by Councilman Iaroldo that the minutes of he previous session be approved. BILLS AIlD CLAIEIS. It was moved by Councilman Maroldo and seconded by Councilman Brown that the rules of he Council be suspended to allow presentation and approval of certain definite claims at his time. Upon Roll Call vote all five Councilmen present voted in the affirmative and otion was declared carried. The City Clerk presented at this time a claim of Pope and Talbot, Inc., upon the Olympic Gravity Water Fund in the sum of $p3,000.00 as initial payment upon the "Lord's Lake Property" as per the agreement between the City and the above named claimant. Also the claim of the Diesel Oil Sales Corporation upon the City Street Fund in payment of Estimate No. 1, City Street Project No. 6 in the sum of $3,491.34. Claims Allowed: It was moved by Councilman b:aroldo and seconded by Councilman Brown that the fore- going claims be allowed and that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to issue warrants upon the proper funds in payment thereof. Upon Roll Call vote, all five Councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried. REPORTS OF OFFICERS. City Attorney. A written report of the City Attorney was presented and read at this time as follows: August 19, 1941. Honorable Mayor and City Council, City of Port Townsend. Gentlemen: Concerning the matter of garbage disposal within the city, which subject as been previously discussed by all members of the city cour:cil, it appears to me that he only practical solution of the problem requires the City to go into the garbage busi- ness as a city business, that is to say, by ordinance declare the collection of refuse and arbage to e a pu c utility and self supporting. The machinery to set up such a project is quite simple, but some thought should be irst taken so that a responsible and reliable person be vested with the trust. Very truly yours, Il J. The report of the :later Superintendent showing the flow of water through the main line meters for the week ending August 11, 1941 and the Irational Paper Products Company meter for the week ending August 9, 1941 visa presented and read and ordered filed.
